Fun Pics....brought out my toys for photoshoot

Ok, so I got bored early Sunday morning and decided to bring out my long-treasured toys. Bought these two back in 96-97 after purchasing my first E36 M3. Cosmos blk on blk leather. Funny thing is I bought the 993 at the same time not knowing a thing about it. I think I bought it just because it was a Porsche. I have kept them in safe places, up high away from the reach of any of my kids. Once in a blue moon, I would polish and wax the exterior....yes you've read that correctly. Now the kids are taller, and can reach my shelves, I have moved these two to the garage. They've accumulated some nasty dust. This morning I took them both out, and carefully dust them with my california duster, wet washed, then a thin coat of wax (I'd just finished waxing the GF's BMW and had some residual wax on the pad). I know, I'm a car nut. May not mean much to some, but I love these two 1/18 scale models. The e36 m3 was my first German car/BMW, and the 993 my first Pcar. Enjoy the pics.

Lol, next time you get bored, you can wash my cars :)
Great job.....

No door strap issue on the AR 993!

Cactus 11-15-2011 12:16 AM

So I'm not the only one with issues.....

OK, these are pretty funny, but AWESOME! I just recently dug out a couple of old model Porsches (928's) I put together as a kid, and they're nowhere near this quality!

Geeez, I thought that 993 turbo was real! and wondered how you kept that car a secret for so long! Great picts and great fun.

Got any pics of those. I used to build tons of model cars and planes as a kid too.

The little 959 is my favorite... .50 cents at the local kitsche shop!

Nice! I have the same e36 m3 car model.

Looks like the M3 needs a hit of some clay bar. :)

Oh man, you are as big of a nerd as I am! I can profess to doing the same thing--I actually just uncovered these a few weeks ago and did a little Photoshop work on them now that I am a bit more well-versed in Photoshop.

I took them for a project back in my college photography class. Fun stuff trying to make it appear like it was a full-size car; the key is being able to get a super-slow shutter speed with a very narrow aperture (tripod absolutely necessary). We actually lit these with a flashlight, as the studio lights were entirely too bright for the 10+ second shutter.

I confess, I'm addicted to these things. All may cars are boxed up sitting in the attic. Most are UT 1:18

And a duster wand small enough to hit the interior :)

Wow, great job with the photo. BTW, we're no nerds. It's just an illness.
