New Speakers
My front speakers were not working intermittently, so I took her in today to get them checked. I was seriously hoping there was some kind of loose wire that need repair. No luck.
So on Wednesday she is getting some new speakers.
I am installing some Focals.
We are headed to the Black Forest for the weekend, so I will post some pictures after I pick her up on Monday.

I had some Focals installed in my 1997 4S this week. The component set with 1" tweeter and 5.25" other. They sound great and fit well. Alpine amp under the passenger seat and Sirius antenna inside the front bumper. Polk 4" x 6" in the rear deck. Enjoy!

Can you elaborate which Focals you went with? I also did Focals, but the ones I used didn't have a tweeter, and now I'm running without the tweeter and I miss it(funny how that little speaker actually does add value!!)
Same about using Polk's in the back - great update to what were my fully cooked 15yr+ speakers - ugh!

how did you install the sirius antenna in the front bumper?

Three Wheelin'
I am looking to update my stock sound system.
The car does not have the hi-fi option.
What is a good combo?
1. head unit with blue-tooth and iPod - I would like enough power in the head unit so not to have to install an additional amp.
2. front and rear speakers
thanks,
Eric

It all depends on how loud you want it. I used a JVC KD-AVX77 coupled wiht Focal speakers in the doors and Polk plates in the rear and it sounded great. Only problem I found is you have to crank up the power with the Focals to make them shine, they do not seem to like really low volume. I guess that depends on how much background noise there is (like mufflers, etc.).

I have spent a bunch on my stereo and the low volume response is bad as compared to any decent factory stereo these days. Newer vehicles are quieter inside and have professionally designed audio and acoustics. I've been told that 993 acoustics are never going to be that good anyway.

Hi. Here are the Focal's I got:
Here is the amp: It fit under the passenger seat with no modifications.
I had the Sirius antenna in my former 1995 993 Cab so I suggested the installer put it in the 4S bumper. He said it was relatively easy as he just unbolted the passenger site and was able to slip it in. He ran the wire along the rubber molding that meets the hood. it is a very thin wire. It gets great reception as the front bumper is plastic as we know. I also had Dynamat put in the doors which helped the bass of the front speakers. I put 4" x 6" Polk plate speakers in the back which sound great. the factory grills fit over them.
I got this head unit: It looks pretty good in our cars as it is basically all black with no disco chrome like most have. The other cool feature is that you can dial in the color of the face to exactly match the yellow color of our ***** (like on the defroster ****, etc). It actually has a color wheel so you can make micro adjustments. Most stereos seem to be blue.
This unit can also play Pandora through your Iphone and play video on the smallish 3" screen (if you jump the connection that requires the handbrake be engaged).
I am very happy with how this setup sounds and the inside of the car is completely stock looking except for the head unit, which does not stand out much.

Hi Keith,
Can you crank up the resolution a bit?
Looks good! I am going to have to shop for a head-end for Scarlett once my budget recovers...
Cheers,
Mike

My car did not have the hi-fi option. I am confused about uploading photos. I thought there was a file size limit, so I posted a low res version. Or is that limitation just for your signature?
