Chuck

On that new BMW:
Make sure you have a thorough test drive.
I'm really disappointed in my wife's new 528.

Yes. One of the good guys. Pending. He has some things to sort out and I am giving him time.

BTW, congrats on a quick sale!
I listed it for $67500 on CL. Rennlist price is $66500: 42,484 miles

I too retired this year and it has allowed me to rethink a number of priorities.

Which BMW did you order? I am a long time BMW guy too and currently have two BMWs under lease. Our 535xi is coming off lease in 8 months. The 5 Series is one of our favorites and seriously thinking of buying it at lease end. I say this every time my lease expires and usually pony up for a new one. But I am more serious about buying it this time.

Mark
This retirement thing is great. A tad expensive, but great.

I ordered a 535I that is loaded. Last (hopefully) big travel car. I am going to do a European delivery the first week of December. By doing an ED I am saving $4500 compared to buying it locally. I’ll post the details in an OT when it is done. If you are going to buy or lease a new BMW, the ED is the way to go.

Yes….. Local Protect and Serve stuff. It was a past life that I have many great memories. Kind of like high school and college…. You only remember the good times.

I have looked into the F10 platform in depth. There is a big difference between the early 2011s and the 2012s. What is the problem with you wife’s 528?

Chuck

all of the qualities of our previous 39 are gone. Well documented complaints on the BMW forums about the jerky acceleration of the NA 3 liter. Miserable in stop and go traffic.
Maybe the new Turbo 4 will be better.

The "Pending Sale" was more me than the potential buyer. He wanted the car but wanted the night to think about it and discuss it with his wife. It was easier for me to list it as "pending" than to field calls and show the car. In the end, he decided to pass.

Not a major issue, but I should have waited a tad longer before posting the sale pending.

In short, the car is still available.

^Seriously, sell the Boxster. I'll buy the Turbo from you in a couple years and it will probably be worth a few grand more, even if the economy still sucks.

Plus:

1) It's a great DD
2) Mid engine
3) Can carry a ton with a frunk and a trunk
4) Well, you can drop the top!

Very true. I am flying in on Friday and out on Monday. My brother and his wife live in Switzerland and will meet me in Munich for the weekend. I am doing the ED to save $3000 plus after airfare, food and hotel.

You are correct on several levels. If the turbo doesn't sell, no worries. I'll keep it and sell it down the line.

Best of luck Chuck ... someone is going to get an AWESOME car!

BTW - I know Chuck - and Chuck is a friend of mine. Chuck's helped me out several times. Another 100% stand-up, class-act RL'er.

Did you know that in '97 there were only 612 Turbo's sold in the U.S.? That makes this car pretty rare ...

Incredible car at an incredible price from an incredible guy. Best of luck to you and your wife on the next adventure. If I had waited a year, I for one would have taken it off your hands for safe keeping. I hope you rethink, but understand in any count. Warmest wishes, Chuck.
