Default ODB II scanner

I am looking to get an ODB II scanner and am not sure what brands and scanners that are good. I need it for the basic needs of checking error codes and resetting the CEL if needed. Any recommendations on what to get are highly appreciated.

I have a Actron CP9185 that I bought from Amazon. Works well.

If that's all you need, get one of the cheap Actron ones. You can probably get one under $50.

Hi,
Tore sales his T-OBD and a sw to scan your fault and make some test on few systems.
I have no affiliation with him,but just a good after-sale help.
Didn't have a chance to' use his tool yet and don't know if it can do the CEL procedure(in europe we don't have such a problem),but
just give him a shout,and I think he'll be' a great help!

ps the turorial for the CCU troubleshoting comes from Tore!
cheers

Thanks coccobet, I appreciate this.
My T-OBD is now out in a new version, along with a 19-pin 964 (and early 993) adapter. I offer a special discount for Rennlisters! Feel fre to contact me, details are given here:

By the way: T-OBD is a USB adapter for using the Scantool OBD software made by Rennlisters. T-OBD is Made in Norway, and all items are tested thoroughly in-car before shipping.
Cheers,
