Thinking of selling my Riviera Blue 993 C2S....
#183
This thread has 10 tons of entertainment value sprinkled throughout it! As to the original question raised:
GYMGUY,
As a RL 993 frequenter, I value these folks opinions, but... Personally, I don't understand "low mileage" car treatment at all. The ROI on most any car is pretty low (ie, negative), unless extremely rare (ok, so that color is, but the car is not) and you bought it for a steal when people didn't want them. Yes, the mileage is low-ish, but there are cars out there with 150 miles on them. THAT'S low mileage. You obviously didn't buy it for the investment (aside from investment in one's self, THE best investment).
As for "preserving" it, as is being suggested...that I don't get either. If we all did that, we'd meet up (rarely), park the cars and walk around talking about how great they are, and posing for pictures with our "stunning examples". Sounds like a gathering of Ferrari owners... (Just kidding, Robin!)
I just got back from visiting the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen. The most striking thing was this.... The cars have dings, scrapes and scratches on them. In a museum! It's because Porsche takes these cars out and does more than show them. They DRIVE them on tracks around the world. (I got to see the Sunoco 917-30 at Laguna Seca in '98, belching fire and leaving black streaks under the tires as the 1200hp kicked in! In a race with other period cars as well.) Heck, even the 993TT example in the museum had 20k-km or so on it, IIRC.
These cars were designed and built to be driven. EVERY time I get in the car and drive it to work, it puts a smile on my face....probably why you bought it too. If you want to daily drive the car, DO IT!
As for the 4.0...there was one in the Porsche Zentrum across from the Museum...I failed to take a picture of it. Unless you're going to flog it on a track, it will be 1/2 as interesting and fun to drive as the 993.

After all this the FS ad better be spectacular. I'm expecting, fireworks, a 4 piece string quartet and a celebrity endorsement.
Seriously, sell it to someone who will really appreciate the car.

The irony. Original owner was an elderly gentleman advertising in PCA. He let it go for a "song" and probably assumed he was passing the torch onto somebody younger that was going to also enjoy the car, participate in the club, etc.

Not sure a private seller price of $60k is "a song." Considering there is a really nice 98 C2S in silver/black available on this board and can probably be bought for $45k (with PSS10 suspension upgrade), the RB color premium equates to $15k. I think the "old" guy did pretty well.

Being in the market and one of the first to PM / Email the OP (still never heard back) I can say that the current market for a 12k mile pristine C2S in whatever color is much different than a modified 45k car. Keep in mind, we're assuming the elderly gent sold the car for less than his asking price of $60,000 OBO. Low mile "original" cars are quite different than higher mile modified ones. Can anyone point to an under 20k mile all-original example for under say $55k regardless of color, seats, etc.?

Yep, Just sold a 14K mile, mint C2S in silver and could only get $52,500 for it...even advertised it here for a month before selling it locally.

Wow, what a deal to get a 14k C2S in silver on black for $52,500! Can you put me in touch with the buyer, maybe he'd like to make a quick return. I contacted you asking if it was for sale and unfortunately it was already gone. I've been searching for a month, turning over all the rocks. For $52,500 all I can find are somewhat beaten and modified 40k+ cars.

Also, I think you're confusing the C2S I mentioned. It has 30k+ miles (not 45k); most don't consider suspension/exhaust "modifications" per se (given the reversibility), has more factory options than the OP's car and a preferred interior color. And it is my understanding that the car sold for $60k. Again, I think that was a strong but fair price.
