distributor cap and rotor brand preference

Is there any downside going with Beru caps and rotors over Bosch? Price difference is significant. Is this a case of "you get what you pay for"?

My personal preference is "anything but Bosch" when it comes to electrical parts.

I believe Steve W. posted on this very subject about 6 mos. ago IIRC. He did not start the thread just put in his comments.

I've changed dizzy cas & rotors 4 times on the 3 964/993s I've had. I've used the Bosch brand and never had any issues.

tctung 09-21-2011 11:13 AM

I have used both. Quality is almost the same.

I prefer the Bosch and believe the extra cost is worth it.

bosch, shouldn't be too much more expensive at www.azautohaus.com

Beru at Paragon is $43 compared to Bosch $55 at AutohausAz. I know this might be quibbling over nickels for some.

Quadcammer 09-21-2011 05:35 PM

keep in mind that anything over $50 at azautohaus has free shipping...but shipping for paragon is about $10, so the cost is about the same.

Given that you replace these parts maybe every 25k or 30k miles, I'd pay the extra few bucks.

I searched for any information about differences in quality between the Bosch and Beru caps, but didn't find anything solid. It would also be interesting to know of differences between the Bosch rotor ($31.75 @ Pelican) and the one made by Facet ($6.50).

Quadcammer 09-22-2011 09:56 AM

its probably more of a quality control issue than it is a quality issue.

Slow Guy 09-22-2011 10:11 AM

Just FYI

Does anyone here know where their Bosch-boxed part was made? I've seen them made in at least 6 different countries, probably more. I don't think quality control has been that great, especially on distributor caps, rotors and, wires for my Japanese cars.

Disi caps

Hi I found that the Bosche caps have numbers on to help fitting the plug wires the Beru ones do not
