993 Fuel Consumption
I have two 993 cabs one is a 94 and the other is a 97 with the more efficient Varioram engine.
The 94 is giving around 16 mile per gallon in town and the 97 is 20 plus m.p.g.
(both figures are for Imperial gallons)
Does any one know any methods of improving these figures especially in the 94 normal engine one?
All funnys on a post card and sent to "the bucket' please

You must have some great 'driving' roads there matey... coming home from California to the east coast ( 1,800 miles), I was getting 30/32 mpg, and thats using the US gallon.
Now at home I'm averaging 9.5 liters per 100kms. Which I think is pretty good. The Civic only gets 5.8kph and its a miserly little bugger.

i have been tracking my milage for almost a year... and The best I have gotten was 21mpg... But that was ALL highway, Boston <--> NYC. On average, discounting AX and DE, I am happy to average 15-16mpg..
To get better milage, never go above 3k rpm, and be a mad shifter... Since that is NOT why we bought these cars, just enjoy and drive.. drive... drive...

Use to get about 17-18 mpg on my 94. Getting a chip improved fuel effiiency for me. Car ran an additional 60km in distance after installing chip.

The best I got was 30.9 MPG Imperial and that was on the day of purchase on the drive home using what you would call a motorway.
My tight average is 25.7 MPG Imperial.
I don't worry about it or I would have bought a Smart Car.

Steve Wong chip $375 usd. No affliation.
Before chip i was consistenty getting around 400 a 420 kms before red warning light came on. After chip i was getting 450 to 460 before red light came on. Mostly city driving.
Car was more responsive and had a little more power. One of the best upgrades and pays for itself. Easy install as well. SW is good to deal with.
Testing the consumption with a supercharger now. Will update when i get the results. On paper it should provide some fuel efficiency.

Otherwise, I think I'm getting about 18 MPG, with lots of WOT to redline , which is why I bought it (love the intake "music" when the varioram sliders kick in at about 5400 RPM (?) with a completely hogged out airbox).
Good luck getting better gas mileage, but run it up to redline on a regular basis, they like it!
