I am very sorry you have been offended. I will unfollow this thread, clearly you know enough to satisfy everyone and YOU at least do not want nor value the input of anyone else. This is not my loss, but disparaging the knowledge and opinion of others is not helpful.

Enjoy your car. No need to reply.

William,
My most heartfelt apologies, as my post was not intended to insult.

I have found that most people outside of design, development, and test engineering, do not have an intimate working knowledge of the terms most commonly associated with Root Cause/Corrective Action.
Again, please accept my apologies. So sorry to hear your 993 was stolen!

So I did the clean out last fall. New check valve, and all ports clean as a whistle with clear fluid running out of all of them. get in the car and the CEL comes on after 50 miles! Is this an O2 sensor? My engine is super clean- all of the valves were spotless- you can still see ceramic on all of the seats. the car doesn't burn oil or blow any smoke ever. All I can think is one of the 4 O2 sensors is bad. Any other thoughts?

PM sent.

There's been a couple threads on this- I found a small vacuum line unplugged by the SAI valve and the code stopped firing when I hooked it back up.

Replace the check valve first:

The first and lowest cost thing to do is to replace the secondary air injection check valve. Lots of postings on how to do this. Unfortunately, if your valve is old enough that it is stuck closed it probably has not been serviced in quite a while if at all. Try one of the less invasive methods to remove the valve first such as
using a crowfoot wrench slipped under the vale on its mounting hex. If you see the cast metal part the valve is threaded into beginning to flex stop what you are doing!
If all else fails, spray some penetrating oil on the base of the valve, let it sit overnight and in the morning use a hole saw on the end of an impact wrench, from above, to drill through the valve's sheet metal housing and tear the entire valve housing free of its mounting hex, Then a regular old hex socket mounted to the impact wrench slid over the valves hex base will remove what remains of the valve. Not the first method to try, but it certainly will be a final method if used.

That's basically what I had to do! I pounded a 21MM socket over the bottom half of the valve and was able to free it- WHAT A PIA!!

Hello to all...

I've been a member for a long time, but just reconnected with Rennlist recently. The photos in this thread don't come through. I've tried my pc, mac and ipad using both Firefox and Safari. The photos stay blocked through all 3 platforms even after turning off virus blocking.. So now I have a question: is there any other way to access this thread and be able to see the pix associated with this thread?

Thank you.

Is it just this thread? It might be an issue with the old posts and the sites that hosted the photos. Many sites seized to exist or changed their practices where they no longer allow free hosting.

So has there been any definitive conclusion that this circuit works on '97 and '98's??
