My car should have been ready today, but...
I brought my car over to my Porsche dealer to fix a leak in one of my BBS wheels, and should have picked it up today, but they told me that an "accident happened". A mechanic, backing up a Cayenne, hit the front of my car!
Now they have sent my car to a bodyshop to be repaired.
Trying to look at the bright side of things, my font bumper had a number of dents recently from braille drivers parking, so I get a new front bumper for free.

Its good that you will get some "free" touch-up work on your car. Not so good that your car had real body damage done to it. Did you get to see the damage or at least photos.

Having the dealership 'take care' of this damage isn't the best move. I had a similar experience when my VW Corrado was damaged whilst in for service. Worst mistake I made was letting them take the car to the shop of their choice. After 3 resprays because the first two were substandard the bodyshop ended up breaking the side window actuator mechanism and the door pull, but wouldn't cover the repair costs. It was a nightmare that lasted several months.
My recommendation for you is to find the best bodyshop in your area, have them do the work and bill the dealership directly. Good luck.

The dealership is only concerned with getting the cheapest fix done. Your choice of body shop would get the best job done. The dealership must pay, either way. Why not go for the best? The dealership already showed they didn't care enough about your car by allowing someone to hit it. And now you want to give them a second chance to screw things up? That doesn't make too much sense to me.
If I were you, I'd get my car out of the dealers hands ASAP and take it to the best body shop in the area.
Unless, of course, you don't really mind if they do a ****ty job on your car.

Assuming it was truly cosmetic only, make sure it doesn't wind up on the Carfax, either ... dealerships and bodyshops can get reported if they enter the VIN# on the car.
Oh, wait ... Switzerland ...
