285/30-18 tire will fit on a 10" ET65 wheel on the rear of a NB car. Had that setup on my lowered 97 (H&R/Bilstein HD) for almost two years/9000miles. No rubbing at all even during auto-x.

Tim, were you flush to the fender lip and approx how much more offset will NB tolerate with 285? Thanks

Closer to fender lip on passenger side than driver's side (we're talking very slight differences). Remember they still used hammers to "adjust" panels on the line when these cars were built. As to the next question, I'm sure an expert such as Bill V will chime in.

Also remember that all 285/30-18 tires, tires of any size for that matter, are not created equal in terms of exact dimensions. Different brands and models of tires can and will vary in dimension despite listing the same size.

Shouldn't be a problem. Timothy is correct that some tires are wider than others. I've run MPSC's (in 295/30-18) , BFG R1's and Hoosier R6's and have never had an issue. There will be some rubbing on the oil line if you drive extremely hard, but it's not a problem.

Thanks
keeping in mind the fact that 285/30 is only a nominal indication of actual size, they fit fine, on a really low car the lips, particularly on the drivers side will need to be massaged, for most street cars up around RoW M030 height there will be no issues w/ that set up.

Mark is correct that the right side wheel hub (where the oil line is) is inset ~.2" more than the left side. Though I've never seen the tire hit the oil line w/ that set up. That's just the way they are built.

first off, my car is a street car, I do not track it, sure I may get a little agressive now and then, but the car is not a track car.

The HTR-Z IIIs are decent. great value, i.e. cheap.

They are OK performance, not the best, but for what you pay, they do the job.

I live in So Cal, so I have very little wet experience on them, but they are far better than the HTR IIs I had on my 911SC. Those were horrible.

I don't have experience with the Conti's so I cannot comment directly.

I personally like the Sumis and would probably get them again, unless something better is out at the time.
