Congrats! You're right next to Trintony (send PM?) close to Steve96C4S and not far from those lunatics in the greater Ellicott City-Baltimore area. Stay out of the salty spring slush on the roads
I actually grew up in Potomac near Seven Locks Road and Montrose.

The Same Yet so Different
Welcome aboard. See that your prior ride was an 87. I also moved up from a 3.2 (mine was an 89 Targa). You'll find the 993 to be so much like your 87, yet different in all the right places. You'll love the power steering rather than having to horse those large tires of the 87 everytime you park the car! And, you'll still have that polar moment when the rear end starts to walk on you.....but, now you'll have so much more power to do just about anything you want with the rear end of the car. And, you'll still have those wonderful feeling brakes.......but, just so much MORE braking abilitiy than your 87.
Suggest that you take your car to an autocross where you can push the car to find its limits in a "safe" environment. You'll probably find, as I did, that you can't reach the limits of the car simply because you will not be able to stay in your seat!! Literally! Your 993 is so superior in traction, braking, and acceleration, compared to your old Carrera, that you will find it beyond your limits.....unless you get 5-point racing harnesses and a proper racing seat to hold you in position. Simply amazed me.
