Default Upgrade From 993 to 993TT or GT3 Part 2

I drove my friend's GT3 yesterday. As my grandmother would say "holy crap". He offered to let me have it for as many days as I needed to determine if I wanted to buy it from him for $96,500.
It is a 2010 with PCCB and light weight seats. I thought I would drive it for a week or so but took it back after an hour. I couldn't keep my driver's license for two weeks with that car. The sound of the engine from behind the wheel from about 5000 rpms to the redline is so wonderful that words to describe it escape me. Let me just say that I just wanted to run up through the gears just to hear that sound....problem is, redline in third (not many seconds away) will find me led away in manacles. It was just what many of you have said...a car for the track. That's not me, but it was a blast to drive and if I were a younger man I would find a way to have one for track days and a 993 for the public roads. I have now found a 97 993tt with 22,000 miles in a color combo I like so I'm flying out to drive it on Friday. I'm still wondering about the all wheel drive...I like it in my A6 Avant and didn't like it in my Bentley GTC. The 993tt is silver with black supple leather, stock but for ss mufflers (oem's included in sale), ECU upgrade otherwise stock, rear bumper painted but no metalwork ever done. What do you guys think is a good price to offer? Thanks as always for your input. Cheers.......Chris

Just like a crack dealer would give a freebie away to the non-user to sink the hook...

Glad to see you could walk away before the addiction became complete! Of course I'm jealous you got to drive a GT3...

That's great Keith. I have all of Peter Egan's books. I particularly like his motorcycle stuff. He once said of a particular motorcycle leaning against a tree with a for sale sign on it beckoned to him "like Michelle Pheiffer shivering naked outside on his lawn".....chris

I think you will find the AWD on the 993TT to be quite unobtrusive... until you need it. I don't understand how people could drive a great car like that so little. You'll see what I mean the moment you set foot in it. Rufus is near 130,000 miles. And perfect. Good luck!

I agreed with you Steve. What is the point of having such a fabulous car and not driving it. I must say though, that I sold my 89 turbo cab because I knew that it was a collector's car and every mile was costing me money. I was younger then and such things concerned me...now I just want to enjoy myself. Thanks for posting.....Chris

The AWD in the 993 Turbo is pretty subtle. What is the seller's asking price? Dealer or private sale? Low $70's for sure.

Chris, I stand by my low $70K number. Offer $71.5 and maybe dig in/settle in at $72.5. Good luck.

Who's tunning is on the upgraded ECU?

If you like driving, then whatever premium you pay for the 22k miler will soon dissipate.

What is the color combo?

It is indeed. The owner, Bill Walczak, is a straight shooter. He can be reached at his Yacht Brokerage office in Annapolis, MD at 410-268-1611
