Having gone from a cab to a turbo I can tell you to go for it. Two very different cars, yet so much in common. Just do it.

Good call on the top. I converted the top on my cab to manual and sold the cab that way. That was the weakest part of the cab and easily remedied by going manual.

May fond memories.....

Is there anyone in the Detroit metro area that would be willing to let me drive their 993, preferably a cabriolet?

Also, how would the 993 drive compared to a 1993 964 RS America (I drove my brother in-laws about 5 years ago)? Very fun!

He just purchased a 2007 997 GT3, I have not yet driven it, but how would this compare to the 993 cabriolet, if at all?

A 993 vs. 2007 GT3? Don't know how you can compare the two... that's 12 to 15 yeas of technology advancement and comparing a street car (especially a cab) to a street legal race-car. As far as the 964 vs. 993 - more power, a somewhat smoother ride, swoopier curves and most important to me - no more valve adjustments. Head over to Pelican and read the comparo posted by Bill Verburg IIRC. But you need to decide what you really want and what you want to do with it.

Yeah, easy to come across as flippant on a response. RSA-to-993 is pretty similar, yet totally different. (I know that doesn't help.) Lack of power steering, to me, sucks. Big time. And the 993 rear suspension, while not really a big deal on the limit in track applications, sure isolates the ride and makes a much more comfortable street cruiser.

997 GT3? Other than having four tires, a steering wheel, and an engine mounted out back..........not even in the same universe.
