Default Putting track seats in my 993

Looking for opinions from those who have done such an install. I'd like a seat that: 1. isnt too expensive 2. fits nicely in my 993 3. is comfortable enough that I could drive the car to the track.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

There are a lot of good seats out there - Sparco, Racetech (this is what I have in mine), OMP, Recaro etc. - and everyone likes the way they fit differently. My suggestion is go to a shop that carries seats and try them out. Find a few that you like that fit you well and then come back and ask if anyone has put them in their car.

I can tell you the Racetech RT4009 Wide fits pretty well and is comfortable enough for a 2-3 hour drive to the track.

I like my Sparco Evo IIs. Got them with one year of use for a reasonable price from another 'Lister. Pretty easy install. Close fit.

+1 on all of the other comments. I had GT3 shell seats and liked them a lot. There was a bit more room in the butt than I preferred, but it wasn't a huge deal. I now have a Recaro Pro Racer HANS seat and it fits me perfectly. I'm just about 6', weigh 165lbs and have a 32" waist, so your ideal may be different than mine.

You're not too far from NJMP, so I would stop by the next PCA DE and ask if you can try on seats if there's no local race supplier near you.

Race seats are available on eBay. Before the economy took a dump, I bought a Recaro Pole Position in really great shape for $350.

Great advice so far... the only thing I would add.... Good race seats are a bitch to get in and out of, not much of a graceful exit at the grocery store if this is a dual purpose car...

The GT3 seats are the best compromise seats I've used. Sides are tall enough to give good support but not so high that you have to climb into them. But they aren’t cheap.

+1 on the Racetech, I love mine

This totally depends on how big you are. The seats that I love may be too small for you. If my seats are too small for you, then they'll be too big for the car. Etc, etc.

That said, I like my Sparco Evo 2 Plus seats though they are a pain getting in and out of.

As you are in NJ, I recommend that you visit Stable Energies and sit in a few.

Sparco Roadsters are nice-but NLA. sizing is everything. Sit in a bunch first.

If your wife or girlfriend uses or rides in the car, you might want to get her to sit in the seats also. Most race seats are designed with a male in mind, and the ladies often find them a little to snug.

Or not.

Subjected my wife to the worst 200 miles of her life one night when an oil line blew on the truck on the way home from Willow Springs one Sunday evening.

How's this relevant, you ask? Luckily I had street-worthy tires to mount on the '92 C4 (long before the 993 days). So out it came from the trailer, and off came the Hoosiers. Wish I could say the same for having spare stock seats. Plopped her in the Kirkey shell with a 5 point for 2+ hours of severe uncomfortableness. (That spiffy red padding wasn't even on the passenger seat, but I think we had a couple of pillows. And before you ask why not put the driver's padding on the passenger side, it was in the early days of experimenting with bead inserts. So there was no way that was coming out.)

Hello,
I have a set of Recaro Pole Position in cloth in my 95 Polar silver with 6 point harness.
I find them more comfortable then the stock ones. They take some getting use to as far as getting in an out, but once you are in them, they are great.
Hey Greg, I did not get a chance to speak to you again at putnman. Did you get a chance to listen to my exhaust when I was on track?
Thanks,
AL z

Is there any additional work needed to the wiring? Cap, plug, loop, etc to avoid throwing a cell or seatbelt warning?

I have sport Hardbacks and while they are comfy, they are also HEAVY!
