Default New Rig

As some may have figured out, I picked up the Kenwood excelon X995 yesterday and am very happy with the improvement in sound coming from my Polk speakers. I was able to run the wire for the mike down the left side of the lower dash and underneath but ran into a problem with how to run the cord for the ipod into the glovebox and still have it close. I don't want to drill a hole, but can't figure out what to do. What did others do who use this method? TIA!

I ran the ipod cable through the opening for the glove box light. Pop out the light, run the cable through and pop it back in. May need to phenagle (sp?) it a little bit go get it to pop back in with the cable, but it should.

I was not able to get the glovebox light back in without trimming a slot into the glovebox.

So I cut a little slot into the area right around the light, slid the cable through and everything now fits great. you'd really have to look closely to see the slit.

Did you install the head unit yourselves? I am in the middle of installing the unit and when I pulled out the old unit the wires are a crazy mess. I can't make heads for tails of it. I think I am just going to have to go to a professional.

@mazetto: indeed I did. I purchased a harness designed for german cars (VW's BMW) and soldered the matching colors, plugged on end into the factory harness and the other into the HU. It was really easy even for a caveman like me
Thanks guys. I will see if I can make it work through the light before I go drilling. There's already too much of that in PA. lol

Had to go the drill route, but it will not be seen behind the manual kit. Thanks to all!
