Depreciation on 993's
#46
If you leave them in a hermetically sealed chamber and rub them with only the finest microfiber cloth once a week, they should hold their value ok.
if you actually use the thing, forget it, they lose plenty of value when you add the mileage.
Do I think they are going to appreciate significantly in the next ten years, not a chance in hell.

Hope in the next 5 years in the 500's

Reading this thread from five years back will be of interest to many. Check out the "crystal ball-gazing" and see who could foresee the future and who could not. Our beloved 993's have achieved "cult" status.

I've been going back for some time now looking at predictions on multiple threads like this. It's funny at the time just how certain they are of their opinion. I remember that fact when people today predict car values in the future.

Marciano- I'd like to see ACTUAL sales of TTs . I doubt seriously If low mileage TTs are selling for 200s . There are a lot of hopes and dreams out there - but few cars make the cut when you get up into that rarified air - twin turbo S cars - that's another stry

I bought mine for 195 (13k miles, collectors condition) last summer. After looking for almost a year, this was the best deal I found in a pristine low mileage 993 tt

It will hold it's value way more then any NEW car!
What I have been seeing is high mile, beat up cars are cheap (under $30k), mid mile, cared for cars are in the $30K range. Garage queens are in the $40k range. C2S & C4S just add 20-40%
I paid $35k for my 95 C4 a little over 3 years ago, & feel it's still around the same sale price.

FYI, I just got an agreed value insurance policy from ANCAP (Chrome modern classic) a month ago for my '95 993. $75k. That was based on a professional appraisal done a few months ago (same guy I use every 3 years, though I accelerated it a year given recent appreciations). I bought new in '95 for $75.5k, so price has gone full circle. It's a C4 Cab with 20.3K miles on it, dealer maintained.

Just found this advertisement in the classified part of the forum.
199k for a 993 non turbo.
I'm sure the selling price will be no les than 25% of the asking price. !
Interesting!
I am following close. This will give us actual prices...

There's a whole pricing thread out here. My comments are just that- I am not a dealer and not trying to tell anyone they overpaid for a 200k 993 in any form. But I do see a lot of cars ( search cars.com) well into the 200k plus range that are not selling. Granted any car in this range has a very select audience and I am sure most are in perfect condition at that range- but I think there's a lot of dealers out there hyping the market too. See Park Place in Bellevue Washington- they have a 700k 993tts - that is insane. For my sake I hope every one gets a lot for their cars- my C4S is never going to be top of the market due to miles- but then again who knows in 20 years.

Can "Quadcammer" comment on this?

I've been thinking about getting an AV policy for my 993 again but don't really have a good handle on the car's value at this point. I had a PCA appraisal done when I bought the car 7 years ago and at that time it was valued at $45K. I'm guessing it's worth considerably more at this point but I'll have to do some research in order to come up with a realistic number for insurance purposes.
