Default Headlight and Foglight mod complete!

I spent some time this weekend dismantling the fog lights and repainting the housing a metallic silver. They turned out great and make a huge difference. While I was at it, I decided to paint the plastic inserts in the head light lens with the same silver. I had actually removed them because they were yellowing pretty badly, but decided I would try painting them and see how that looked - gives the head light a little more finished look than not having the insert in there at all IMO.

Shout out to Eric (epj993) and the other threads he referenced for giving me some direction while I tackled this. All in all a bit tedious but very easy mod.

Sorry for the crappy iphone pics:

The 914 is a 71, my Dad's first car, and he is the original owner. It has been "tweaked" throughout the years We are now fully restoring a '74 that will basically look the same as his '71. Hopefully done by next spring. Here are few pics:

For the headlights and fogs...not the 914 :-)....although it is super clean, and looks great. Love the plate!

A basic metallic silver from Lowes...I can't remember the brand off the top of my head but I will check tonight. My first step was an adehesion primer that helps the paint stick to the plastic.

Thanks for the info. Do you think the paint will last with the heat generated by the globe?

Thanks for the comments on the 914- had it since new, just before Christmas 1970. My son inherited the Porsche gene (passed from my dad and uncle) and it is fun helping him with the mods on his cars and on mine. Helps to have an extra set of hands every so often!!
And his brother (my other son) has a "Porsche" motorcycle, a H-D nightrod! Fits right in...
