Default OT: Not a p-car but what a car

Just got my 1M delivered. What a little beast! Still breaking it in but already can tell it has lots of power to spare. IMO, it drives better than the E92 M3. Lighter, smaller, louder, just right. Here are a couple of pics I took this morning.

By the way, I'm selling my previous daily driver (2008 A4) in case any of you is looking for a very nice DD with low miles - you can see it in the For Sale section.

Very nice!

I'm very intrigued by the 1M. I look forward to hearing more of your driving impressions, especially as a 993 owner.

Thanks for the comments. I will post more pictures soon.

First driving impressions: handles like a dream (seriously, amazing handling), razor sharp steering, pulls very hard (although have not exceeded 5K rpm yet), can get good power in low rpm (unlike M3), smooth power band - can barely feel turbos kicking in, somewhat torquey at times, M button for immediate throttle response (feels like more power but it's just throttle response). All in all a very well balanced car that is a lot of fun to drive. I personally love it! Even the awkard mean-looking fenders, and front & rear bumpers.

I won't even attempt to compare it to the 993 since it's just a different kind of car. But I will say this: the 1M tries to go back to the roots, ala E30 M3 (my fav M-car), and I think it succeeds in creating a more involving driver's car; one that you can truly "feel"...and hear. In that sense kind of like the 993.

3,296 lbs. Not exactly a feather weight, but light for today's standards. Here are some relevant comparative weights:

DIN curb weight:

E30 M3 at 1,225 kg = 2,701 lbs

E36 M3 at 1,385 kg = 3,053 lbs

E46 M3 at 1,474 kg = 3,250 lbs

E82 1M at 1,495 kg = 3,296 lbs

E92 M3 at 1,605 kg = 3,538 lbs

Here are a couple more pics. Pardon the bugs on the front bumper - it kills them fast too.

Really beautiful in white. That'll be a rare bird on the highway, another benefit of ownership. For the gent that wanted interior pics, here ya go. Obviously not my car. From the BMW Blog...

Cool color:

Tight, in a good way

Nice stitch work

Pretty bodacious

that front bumper is a bit funky, but otherwise, very cool. Like the wheel design a lot.
