Fister's installed!

So just got my 60K service done and had my stage III's installed at the same time. Damn these sound great. So much better then any videos or soundclips on youtube. The widebody ovals fit great as well. Overall I'm a happy man!

do you lose the Porsche rasp, or does it remain?

ginch Apr 9, 2011 12:41 AM

The rasp is definately still there. Love the pop, gurgle on downshifts!!!

NC TRACKRAT Apr 9, 2011 10:25 AM

Makes you want to come up with excuses to drive somewhere, doesn't it? Welcome aboard!

ginch Apr 9, 2011 07:23 PM

Yeah. I'm looking forward to cruising around tomorrow as its supposed to be sunny and nice!

TargaMatt Apr 9, 2011 09:29 PM

Nice, congrats!! Hopefully I'll get a chance to see/hear your car this summer. Will you be doing any PCA days?

I have been contemplating this for awhile, I think it is very fairly priced and I know everyone seems happy. I have no doubt that FD III will sound really cool, but have been worried I would lose that signature Porsche flat six B-R-A-A-P type of rasp sound. Glad to hear its still there.

whatever signature Porsche sound you THINK your hearing with stock cans, well...think again.

The difference between Stage lll's and stock cans are very much like listening to your favorite song on a portable radio at modest volume...compared to a quality component system at volume.

I put over 100 mies on the car today, highway at 72-75mph...and lots of traffic congested stop and go at 30-45mph. Every acceleration, every shift, every off throttle moment is a frickin symphony.

Just like Rice Krispies...Snap on throttle, crackle on steady, pop on deceleraton.

The simplest things...getting back in the car after it's warm for a restart. The immediate VROOM and burble, damn that's a beautiful thing.

did you do ceramic coating? orders my s3's bout a week ago, and undecided on coating them, have most guys taken this route? worth it?

thanks,

ginch Apr 10, 2011 07:48 PM

Yes I did the coating. Wasn't going to however they look so nice I'm glad I did.

|Driving around again today made me realize this mod will not be good for fuel economy. I'm constantly reving it out and staying in a lower gear so I can hear the pops and gurgles. The more I drive it the more I love it. I think I scared a few people today when I accelerated past them!!!

Here are a few pics of the wide ovals.....

The drivers side sticks out a bit more than the passenger side however I'm sure I can get that sorted!

How are they at 70mph constant throttle? Any drone or annoyance?

ginch Apr 10, 2011 07:51 PM

Absolutely no drone. Realistically, with the windows up its hard to tell they are even there!

Driving around again today...Ginch
Hey Derek:

I got my car back home this week, and we also took advantage of the weather today, to do a run out to Bragg Creek. Did some high rpm exercising, as well.

I'll have to give your car the auditory test at the next Wild Rose run.

Enjoy!
