Scary good...
As in just north of 130K miles, daily driven, nothing done to drivetrain except an OE clutch replacement at around 110K, and PSS9s way back at around 80K. Owned for coming on 12 years now (and even tracked for 3-4 of those) and is soild, reliable, never stranded me. In fact, she still attacks corners with abandon, telegraphs road signals to my fingertips, and revs to redline with eager silkiness. Moreover, inside and out the car is solid, rattle free, and commuter comfortable. Did I say scary good?
Wow. And I mean that in all seriousness!
Honest question (if there is a point to any of this blathering): how many cars today of any marque can do it all, performance+reliability+smiles, this well, in decades to come. Heck, even my Trackmeister is this good ...except for the comfort part. Porsche really nailed it with these cars. Amazing when you think about it.

Im with you. Im in 11th year. Was daily for 1.5 of those. Occassional track for a couple. Apart from maybe 3-4 batteries over that time (from the 993 sittng idle too long mainly) and preventative maintenance shes run without missing a beat. Great car. Great performance proposition for those not fiscally "rich". Weve been spoilt.
Enjoy!

I hear ya! My 95 C4 is DD, was purchased for that duty. Then was turned into my Auto-X car. It has been a rock, nothing, not even the 100,000mi stock suspension was worn when I changed it out.
Now that I've given it a little bit of love, I LOVE this car, look forward to driving it all the time! I feel there are no other cars in this price range that can offer the fun, performance, reliability, or course looks!

Ahhh, yes, the E36 is a great car! I run into an acquaintance at the track with a beautiful E36 M3 4-door ...now there is another great car, albeit with a slightly different mission (ahem, not to mention he's a better driver than me ). While it may not have the visual panache as a 993, it too is a fabulous car. But the 993 lines ...ooooooh!

IMHO, the E36 is not aging all that well, the interior fit & finish doesn't hold up. I know the engines are super solid, just not the cooling system. It's a bit to refined & lacks a little bit of the raw edge.
Now if we are talking about the ROW E36 M3, then that is another story, but sadly, we don't got'em.
