Default Anyone know what type of Kinesis wheel this is?

Hi,

does anyone know what type/model of Kinesis wheel this is? Or know of a way to determine that?

Bonus question:

How do I figure out all the parameters (offset, etc.) I would need to know about before ordering another wheel? There is a number on the back of the wheel, is there any way to make use of that?

Thanks!

May I ask how you know? I have found references to K27, K28 and K29 and don't know what the difference is. Thanks!

Because I am running K18's and a buddy is running K28's. The 29 is the latest iteration. The 27 is a different style center.

K28's, I have the same set.

The number on the back of the wheel is a serial number, all kinesis wheels have it. The only way to find out the offset is to have the wheel off and measure it (Or the original build sheet from kinesis). Looks like a WB/Turbo offset based on the size of the outer lip.

Thanks Steven. Are there any other parameters I need to know of? One of my wheels is cracked and I'm trying to figure out my options (repair, replacement, ...).

If your center is cracked then it needs to be replaced, no one will repair them.

contact abt cup (Thatcher) He has quite the collection of Kinesis parts and may be able to help you out.

The Kinesis that produced your K28's is no longer in business, having been sold to bling wheel manufacturer Asanti/Lexani years ago. The Kinesis models of the past company are no longer produced, so finding a new center for your wheel is going to be difficult unless Thatcher has one.

That said, I purchased my K58's a few years ago with a damaged center & managed to obtain one through one of Asanti's main distributers. This was not an easy, cheap or pleasant experience! Due to the lack of any ET markings on the Kinesis wheels, I shipped my damaged center to them & luckily they had 1 matching center. $575.... I got the impression from the people that I had to deal with that this was a huge PITA for them & it was a relief to finally receive the new center 8 weeks later.

Also - ALWAYS make sure to use anti seize compound on the lug nuts when mounting Kinesis wheels!! The damage mine had was a result of one of the lug nuts seizing itself to the center. The PO took the car to a local shop & they literally destroyed the lug hole while removing it.

Good luck with your search.
