Default winter wheels

Is 225/45 8J 17, 70mm really the right dimension for winter wheels (back) as stated in the manual?. It looks very un-cool on my new 95 993.

I think the current recommendations from Porsche are for 255/40/17 on the standard 9" rim.

Well, if you want cool-looking, go with 285 wide tires. But for snow, the narrower the better. You can always add a bolt-on spacer to make the wheels more flush with the fenders.

I think the narrow tires/wheels and the big offset aim at creating clearance for snowchains. If you don't need those, install spacers.
