Reading all your posts about the Hankooks I'm surprised to be the only one in big trouble with it !
Hope it will improve with some more miles...

Sorry for my post's strange syntax...still learning english

I just purchased the Sumi III's this week. Believe it or not I ended up with 295 for the rears (I have a narrow body)...I first put on the 285's but they looked too narrow. Damon at the Tire Rack ("Damon Witters The Tire Rack" <damon@tirerack.com>) in South Bend was so accomodating and concerned that I got the right tire. He personally supervised the work to make sure my wheels were not marred and made sure his most experienced guy did the work.

Nice to get good service instead of a good talk job!

To update, I put a set of the Ventus on a couple of weeks ago. The car rides much better and quieter than with the 6 year old Yoke ES100's. Way grippier too, but that probably has at least a little to do with the Yokes hardening with age.

Only a couple hundred miles on them so far so this could change, but the car (particularily the rear) is squirmy when doing a rapid lane change at freeway speeds. Odd because I had my first track experience earlier in the day and didn't especially notice a lot of squirm but, then again, I was kinda busy at the time...

Hankook makes a tire called R-S3 which would be more suitable to autocross work and non-daily street driving. I'm thinking that this is my next set and I'll live with them on the street.

The R-S3 have been a bit slow out of the gate seller wise due to availibility, but I have sold several sets for guys doing light track days on them. Seem to be OK but not stellar. For the money I think Bridgestone RE-11 and Dunlop Z1 Star Specs will do better.

Damon, I'd like to hear your comments regarding autocross. A whole bunch of fast street-class people seem to have suddenly jumped from Star Specs to R-S3s this year. Star Specs had their domination for two years, it seems.

On a related note, what's the scoop with V710s? Is Kumho planning anything new? My size is only available in 2005 date code. I've bought those two seasons ago, they promptly cracked across the thread. I'm not buying those anymore. But V710's been around for what, 6-7 years now? Are they out of autocross game? If so, how does Hankook 212/214 in C71 compound compare?

Don't get the sumi's if you are going to track it. They get noisy and slippery when hot!

Anybody had flat-spotting with the Hankooks? I've been extremely pleased with the Sumis but the feedback seems to be leaning towards the Kooks however I thought I read somewhere they tend to flat-spot easily?

Had my V12 Hankooks on for several months now. They seem to be very close to the Michelin Pilot Sport that were on the vehicle previously. I have not had a problem with flat spotting. I have to admit, the cost was a big factor in buying these.

I'm going Kooky next time out, if only for variety's sake. The Sumi's have been perfectly fine for my spirited, "hope I don't get a ticket" street driving.

Anyone see my thread last week showing the wear at 9-10K miles, and that I flipped them? Had been running the GT3 19's since the snow tires came off, and putting the 18" Kooks back on makes it a pleasurable car again..............

Sorry, guys, but Consumer Reports liking a tire pretty much automatically disqualifies it from my consideration.

LOL!! I actually read many positive reviews on tirerack.com before I purchased and I'm very pleased after a few thousand miles. They really are great tires....
