Hi
Mine is on 185k no work to the engine. It never smokes or taps, idles nicely and goes great. I have not added any oil since I changed it a year ago though the guage is on 1/4 rather than 3/4 now. I have only done about 2.5k miles though. I have started to disconect the engine ahead of a drop soon, so I shall report on the state of the heads. It should be interesting. I am really hoping that I do not need new valves. The guides I expect.

I think premature valve guide wear and burnt exhaust valves are largely a US spec 993 phenomenon.
My Porsche dealer has seen very liittle evidence of any of this on their client 993s some of which are at 100+k miles. Being ROW we have no SAI valves which I think is a big bonus. We also run OBD1 and our fuel is generally ok quality....
Mine has 44k miles and gets opened for new DC21-114 cams and springs soon so will let you all know the shape of things then...
Cheers

Burning Brakes
Didn't need to be rebuilt for the usual reasons... shaft crescent bearing spun and engine had to come apart anyway. Based on the condition of the valves, guides and SAI ports, and accounting for near zero oil consumption, I would have otherwise been fine for a long time.
