Bill, keep us updated on the GiroDiscs you purchased from me.
Bed them in with used pads, and run em hard.

The 'wear out' period is certainly longer than the period of: 'they cracked out/grooved out before they should have'

Does Girodisc make an adapter to fit a larger than 322 mm diameter floating disc to front of 993?

Steven,
I have the Coleman front rotors which I got from Frozen Rotors for $335 each.
Reused my Turbo rotor hats with new bolts, reused nuts.
They have "Coleman" cast on the rotor, no part numbers I could find.

Have 11 days on them so far, mostly open track days.
I was getting about 20 days on the Porsche rotors and the Colemans look like they will get about the same. Not sure they will end up being a better value.
It will be interesting to see how Bill's rotors wear.
Mike

The reason I asked is because I think a 355 mm would be a nice touch to go with the increased brake torque of the RS rear system. A larger rotor on front of 993 would be easy with spacers under calipers to match diameter increase.

Cupcar: The main issues with running bigger Rotors on 993tt brakes is finding the rotors with the correct annulus. 993tt front calipers have quite a large pad height, thus needing a bigger annulus rotor, (more material, heavier rotor etc). Also finding someone that makes one, Brembo and Stoptech rotors are all narrow annulus when they go bigger on the front (Same annulus as 993tt/RS rears).

The brembo rotors you linked to have an Annulus of 53.5mm for the 355 rotor and 52.5mm for the 380mm rotor. 993tt front pads have a height of 58mm and an annulus of ~60mm.

It is easier to fit bigger rotors to the front of 993's with stock black calipers than it is 993TT calipers.

Thanks Mike, at 335 a rotor and potentially the same wear as stock 993TT rotors, I think I will stick to the OE rotors. I know the guys that run Giro's on 997.1 GT3's are getting between 15 and 20 track days out of them (depending on driving style)

I wore my Colemans out in 5 days, they grooved like nothing I've seen. My experience.

Exactly my findings...but as you point out it is easier with the stock black caliper, the stock black 993 caliper and red 993 RS/TT caliper have the same piston diameters, so using the 10mm shorter stock 993 S4 size pad should work with the narrow annulus rotors. One just has to use the smaller pad caliper.

Just 6 days on them, including 2(330milers) at the Glen, they still look like new.

BTW, Girodisk rotor annuli are made by Coleman

I am very interested in the Girodiscs! Does it come in RS sizing?

Please send a quote for full set of 4 rotors to: juha.granqvist[at]gmail.com

I have RS big reds and go trough rotors in 15-20 track days depending on the tracks and tires I run.
I use Performance friction racing compound 01 pads. Nothing else I have tried comes even close, but then they do destroy the rotors quite fast...
