Default ***Looking for pics of vented rear bumpers***

I know some of you guys have vented your rear bumpers but I can't find the pics.

I just dropped the car off to have the sunroof removed, a roll bar welded in and some cosmetics done on the bumpers, some pics of vented rears would help a lot.

Flying Finn, that looks awesome. It's clean with the cuts made along the bumper lines.

Petu has the coolest vented bumper I've seen on a 993, but, IMHO, half of what makes it work are the perfectly drilled bumper support holes. It reminds me of a Lamborghini Miura chassis.

I really like the mesh around the license plate. Petu, did you just cut the plastic and install the mesh grille, or is there more involved with it? Are these round holes in bumper support there from the factory?

Petu drilled them; the stock bumper supports are solid. From the photos, they look to be quite evenly spaced.

Thanks, Mark! I agree, the holes make it look really good.

Thanks guys!

I agree with Mark, part of it looking cool are the holes in the bumper bar. That was definitely part of the whole "design" when I did the openings in the bumper.
Besides having some extra air flow, I did it to just make it look different/better.
What's also nice that can not be really seen in the photos is that you see the stainless steel cats and exhaust tubing I have in there.

Yeah, just cut the holes in the bumper cover and then used a high temperature epoxy glue to install the mesh. You need to shape the mesh a bit donut fits flush but it's simple and then I had weights until the glue dried (I had the bumper cover off for the whole thing).

Correct, few guys have cut the holes to save a little weight. I've always liked multiple holes in various things so wanted to show them.
They're dead evenly spaced. I calculated the distance, marked and punched the centers and then just used hole drill. And then sanded a bit to make it look nice.

I don't have any data but it should be fairly good. Especially in track when you can remove the license plate which is mounted directly on the mesh (that whole area behind a license plate is open).

I believe that there's also a benefit by relieving the air pressure created by the rear bumper "parachute" effect and allowing air to flow through the bumper as opposed to hitting the inside of the bumper and working its way under.

Drilling holes will take me and my GF out of class for an occasional autocross in my yellow car...

Still, looks really nice.

Thanks, any cracking?

I'm thinking more in the corners where mine are already melted

I really liked the ones from the battle ship thread, but mine are too far gone

and yes my inner bumper is holy

I'd be interested to know about cracking as well... I'm also trying to picture if this would look stupid on a no-wing car. Because man, it looks so dang sexy on your car Finn!

No cracking, nor any other problems.
The mesh also makes it more stronger (than what it would be without) so it's not flimsy either, I thought maybe I'd need to add couple of supports but seems that nothing is needed.
I've also been thinking about couple of slots on the side of the bumper but haven't done anything yet.
I actually photoshopped holes (to both, front & rear sides) but can't seem to find them...

Here's a photo without the license plate, you can see everything a bit better.
(the bumper cover is not quite in its right position and the tail lights are missing but still)
