Quintuplet arrives home ...
One of the five infamous Beverly Hills Porsche Carrera S Cabriolet conversions became available recently and I couldn't pass it up (talk about an impulse buyer, saw ad, called, made offer, flew to PPI, wire transfer, jump in car, drive 750miles home all in two days ....)
Anyway, here's the obligatory crappy Cel Phone pictures of the slog home and a few details about the car.
BHP ordered 5 Cabriolets in late 1997 through the Porsche Exclusive Department that were delivered with 'S' badging, door sills, S guages and other 'special' equipment and each came with an extra set of parts: Turbo bumpers with Turbo 'S' brake ducting, Turbo rockers and rear quarters and 18" Technology wheels in Turbo offsets. The cars bodies were converted by the dealer under the Porsche Exclusive umbrella so all warranties remained intact and then delivered to the 5 lucky customers as new Carrera S Cabriolets. As far as I know, these are the only ones that exist like this.
According to the included window sticker and C.O.A., this car was ordered in Arena Red with classic Grey interior, Black top and tonneau, windstop, hardback sportseats, limited slip, motorsound, Hi-fi stereo and an aluminum-carbon shifter and E-brake in black leather with exclusive options of S badging, door sills and guages. The only thing missing is the windstop, everything else is stock original to the car and the suspension has been converted to factory european M030. As some of you know, I moved from Seattle in May back to where I grew up in Northern California, so imagine my surprise when I find this car 9 miles from my old Seattle home ...
Driving back in the rain. I really felt like I was "liberating" this car from a life locked away in a garage ... Odometer reads 28,245 at this point ...
Stopped at Lake Shasta for the night where some friends have a lake front Tudor (nice friends with obvious benefits ....)
Back home, safe and sound after a quick wash-up
Porsche crests in the seat headrests ... (I have to admit, even with all the kool-aid hype, these seats are VERY comfortable ...
Here's the interior shot. I'm looking for a carbon/leather 3-spoke wheel now in black leather to match the shifter/e-brake combo ...
O.k., now that I've confessed my 'sins' I feel much better now ...
Oh, and happy Fourth of July everybody ....

When I had my cab I always longed for one those five special cabs. That is a very special car and looks great. Congrates.

I love stories like this. You find what you want, don't BS around, and know it is in your garage! Congrats. Are rare find indeed. I am a fan of the color combo and love the look.
