To my southern friends viewing this thread: Price is reflective of CANADIAN market values which are much higher than values in the US. Comparable cars sell in the mid to high $60k range here in Vancouver so the car is priced very well.

Adding to the info above, I have contacted the original owner who owned the car until 2007 when he traded it in for a GT3 RS. I also know who the second owner was. The car was serviced at MCL with the exception of the most recent service which was performed at SCAN.

Quite the controversy for you guys, right? Seemed to be making headlines when we were up there last month. Couldn't quite figure out all the details from just gleaning through the paper though.

Simply a tax grab. We currently have two sales taxes, one provincial and one federal. The federal one basically applies to everything and the provincial one does not.... but now the province wants to piggy back the federal tax to save on management and just have one tax that is at the combined rate... Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). So we now pay full tax on everything! Can't wait!

We used to be able to recover the GST at the border when going home from Canada. I haven't read more into the new HST but will there be any tax exempt status for anyone, like for those not a resident of Canada?
