Default Transmission issue

I had the car on the track today and when I came off and tried to shift from 3-2 I encountered a lot of resistance.

I had an on-site shop take a look at the shift linkage. That was fine, they drained and refilled the tranny fluid. The problem is not as bad but still persists.

Reverse, 1, 3, 5 are all ok. But 2, 4, 6 are tough to get into gear.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

An out of adjustment static rod coupled with worn bushings (both ends of the static rod) can do this. Best thing to do is take off your transmission tunnel and check/adjust the static rod and see if this changes things.

When's the last time you bled the clutch slave cylinder?

I don't know. Probably been a while.

I ordered a new slave cylinder and it's on my list of "to dos".

B4 you change out the old one, bleed it and see if it makes any difference with the tranny.

See my thread with the exact symptoms here:

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...ven-gears.html

Sorry for your luck but you are probably going to have to open up the box. They took mine apart and said things were worn but couldn't find any big chucks missing. This is confusing to me because there felt like something specifically in the way of 6th gear, which made me thing something came loose and got stuck. But they tore it down completely and didn't come up with anything. Still waiting to get the car back...

Thanks Adam

I just talked to my neighbor, he had the exact same symptoms and same solution. The transmission shop opened up the tranny, found the pebble sized obstruction in the shift fork but all the gears and syncros were perfect.

Oh well, off to talk to my transmission expert.

In case it helps with anyone offer suggestions... Tony let me drive the car briefly and the weirdest thing was that it was noticeably difficult to move the shifter around. Shifting was a 4-finger affair (I can shift my tranny with 2 fingers) and even moving the shifter left-right in neutral took effort.

Sounds like an out side the box issue. Linkages, motor mounts, trans mount...
