Default OT - The Original Adaptive Sport Seat

I love craigslist. Just picked up this unused circa 1986 Recaro KRS driver's seat. The seller purchased it for a car he subsequently sold and stored it all these years. It's all manual and has adjustable side bolsters.

Originally, I was thinking of making it into an office chair, but Recaro still makes brackets for these seats. Therefore, it will be going into my old E30 DD.

Now all I have to do is find another guy who has stored an unused passenger side seat for 25 yrs......

Cheers,
Joe

Great seats, but not the easiest for DD as the bolsters are fairly high. Getting in and out is not as trivial as from the regular E30 Recaros. Although my 2 E30s with factory sport Recaros weren't comfortable on the long drives at all. So probably it's a good trade off.

AWESOME, Joe!!! It's like a time capsule. I always loved the net headrests when I was a kid.

Awesome seats... I bought a set of full leather/power classic's for my Mercedes coupe project. They were a $10,000 option from AMG back in the day! I remember the Recaro magazine ads when I was a kid & have to have a set one day...

I'm excited to get it into the E30. I had no problem with the original sport seats from a comfort standpoint, but they lack in lateral support. Anyway, it will make the old girl seem new again - if just for a little while. I need to keep her going until the prices of the 06-08 997S come down to about $30K.

Of course now I'm doomed to a daily search of ebay/craigslist/etc for the passenger side......

Cheers,
Joe

I think most of us drooled over these Recaros in the 80s

Oh, this is from "Camero" and all, but, perhaps, you can use the passenger seat: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/pts/1659462344.html

Thanks Mike. I saw those, but unfortunately they are not KRS seats (no adjustable bolsters). I have a feeling this search will go on for a long time.

Yeah, if you are looking specifically for KRS - they are, shall we say, hard to find.

However, do your passengers really need adjustable bolsters? :-)

BTW, I was going through some of my stuff in storage yesterday... I have a BMW Recaro brackets. I don't remember if it's for E30 or E36, I have to look it up if someone needs it. I think I have both sides.
