Exotech is the shop that installed clutch, LFW and suspension as well as RS shifter fork, new plugs, corner balancing, alignment, etc.

The car, interestingly enough, doesn't seem to burn oil. My initial trip from Cali to Boston took 4500 miles and required adding less than a quart. I think it's been about at that clip since.

If someone hands over $17K or so, I'll sell the whole car, of course. With a clear understanding that person knows well what they are buying and have no illusion of a perfect car dancing in their head. If a person can not look at and drive the car in person I would insist that someone independent (another Rennlister, for example) comes and looks and drives the car and gives a potential buyer their full opinion, warts and all. I've done this for others and had it done for me when I bought this car in California sight unseen 6 years ago, so unless the buyer is getting it purely for parts I would insist on in-person inspection first.

I've taken apart and sold a couple of old MR2s part by part before, but that was different time. I'd like to avoid doing that for numerous reasons.

If any help is needed with logistics, getting the car to a trailer terminal, etc, I'd definitely help with anything I can. not sure what a cross-country trailering would cost nowadays, but i hear things are cheaper than they used to be in the trucking business due to economy.

So, guys. think about this and let me know. A driver or a project or...?

BTW, I've been driving the car for the past 5 days while Miata is in the air waiting for a light flywheel to be ponied up here from California. 993 is perfectly drivable as it stands. The rear rotor is somewhat rusted and causes some vibration at high speed braking, needs to e replaced, but it's still there in one piece

Sounds like a nice deal for someone who wants to put in a little sweat equity for a decent DD. What color is it?

Looks like there's some local interest now ahead of me. But I think it's pretty easy to know my end game here--good starting point for a driver level version of what Jaeger did. Getting interest again as I might have a line on the factory pieces needed to cobble together a twin turbo engine. And since I have my cousin's turbo car sitting around should I run into any issues..................

Here's a pic of the car, btw, from a few years back. I'll make some more and post them as well.

Mike, this sad news indeed! If you need storage space, I might be able to help you out. The black cab will be coming out of it's storage space soon and I don't have anything else that needs to be in there right now.Just let me know.

Dennis, thanks, I appreciate it!

the issue is that I don't see a point of storing the car per say. It needs to either be driven by me or by someone else. Or find it's way into someone's 3.6 conversion in parts.

It sat for the last 14-15 month, essentially (600 miles in that time). Kind of sad, I think. Kind of a waste. On the other hand, I drove it to Hartford and back yesterday. There's something about the car that speaks to me. Then again, I parked it after that 200 mile drive, hopped into Miata, put the roof down... it is so different and so much easier to drive.

God, I need professional therapy on this issue. I have a serious affinity to the 993. I associate myself with that car to a degree (those of you who watch Californication would know immediately what I mean, mine's just as unwashed and as... ummm... reflective of my character. But it sits and it sits and it's not driven. And when I walk away from it and look back it reminds me of a puppy in every respect. You don;t part out puppies, right? Or is it just a pet rock?

As I said, therapy. Any shrinks out there?

Well Mike, the only therapy I can offer is a bottle of tequila and a head ache the next day. My two cents would be aggressively try to sell it in one piece and drive it as much as you can until then. Don't forget, if you part it out you'll need storage space for that process as well. Just sayin...

Dennis, you are right. It's now sitting at a friend's place in Framingham and I've parted out an MR2 there before. Yes, they hate me now, but hey, I got them into autocrossing so they owe me

The pics of the car can now be seen here: http://picasaweb.google.com/109009245207934739883/P993#

I tried to photograph the body imperfections as well as give an idea of the state of the interior (most of the front has been converted to black and is in very descent shape, the marble grey in the back is dirty. Main carpet is still grey.

Sorry to hear Mike. I know you've been on the fence for a while. I think your time might be better invested in cleaning it up a bit and selling it more so than parting it out. Best of luck with the sale.
