Default OT - Does anyone know a good Mercedes forum?

Need some help on a MB I am trying to buy and have found a few forums out there that are not well attended. Does anyone know of a "Rennlist" type forum for Mercedes? I am looking at the 2003-08 SL Class.

There's no "rennlist" type forum. I'm on the two previously mentioned - you will get your questions answered, but DON'T expect sub-second response like here.

I used to use benzworld quite a bit & documented my Mercedes build there - I definitely prefer it to mbworld. The UK MBClub site seems to be pretty good also.

Our own Quadcammer was/is very useful to me with Mercedes information. He "coached" me in my S500 purchase recently.

Agree with the other recommendations.

The website of which you speak is like talking to someone in China on a Sat phone. Seems to be delayed...

I have always wanted an SL and have been watching them closely for the last year. My biggest drawback is I can't afford a new model and don't have the kahuna's for the sharp depreciation curve when the next model comes out. Just as I thought I could swing a 2004 they refresh the front end on the 09'.

I'm afraid the R230 prices will tank worse than a 996 when the new model comes out in 2011.

Another comment. I have a MB G-Wagen and I truely love it, but if the SL is anything like my G I would never own one out of warranty.

Why not look for a late 80's 560SL? All the depreciation has already happened and they're already considered modern classics. I see one, or a late 560SEC in my hands in the future. They'll only appreciate in value at this point...

It may be a modern classic, but its not a very impressive car to drive. If anything, the 90s SL still has a somewhat modern look with traditional mb styling/driving experience.

I recommend you go and see yourself, I love just to read on...

lol.

the 211 AMG and C63 forums are generally filled with mildly retarded individuals. All they care about is 1/4 mile times, getting "bitches", and having the loudest possible exhaust on their mercedes.

The 230 forum is a bit better, but gets far less volume.

The overall maturity level on benzworld is better, but there is little action over there.
