Two Rare 993 colors..
Hi Guys.
Just found two lovely 993s for sale at JZM (UK). No affil. The exterior colors on these two 993s are just stunning! One is the very rare mirage metallic, which is kind of a champagne metallic finish. The other one I've never seen before, must be a one off. It's violet metallic. It looks kind of like viola metallic, but much much brighter. Love both, especially the violet :). Enjoy  http://www.jzmporsche.com/porsche-993-C4S--75.html http://www.jzmporsche.com/porsche-993-C4S--61.html |
I'm sure someone would love those two colors, but I think there's a reason those colors are rare: they don't appeal to most folks.
|
I like 'em both, although I don't think I would want the second one. I love the non-metallic, darker purple, but that is a bit too feminine for me.
|
I have always loved unusual colors on Porsches, that is, as long as it's not on mine....lol
But i'm sure there are two buyers out there somewhere who will love those two cars. Thanks for the link.............ZP44 |
I like the violet, but not so much on a stock-ish coupe. It would look great on a car that is built up though... Or maybe I'm just getting old :D
|
I'd drive the mirage one, it's very handsome...would definitely take it over the eleventy billion silver or black 993s out there. The purple one is nice too, but it's one of those colors I'd probably get tired of owning, although it is very nice.
|
I like em both.
|
Those are both really beautiful cars. Actually, all the cars in that showroom are nice. But doesn't it make you angry that someone went around and put all those screwholes in the front bumpers on all of those cars???

The purple is not for me. Was it the 993's that had commercials with all kinds of interesting colors?

my wife convinced me to buy a jellybean colored car (her words, everyone has black silver or white), never looked back - no regrets....
as ilko says tho' perhaps needs to be special, widebody, turbo, speedster or modified |
I'd own either one, no problem, but the Mirage Metallic is a beauty, hard-back sport seats to boot. What color interior is that, Rubicon?
|
I like the interior color on the Champagne car. I think it's Cocoa.

Nice pair.:D
|
Not to my taste,,,, but these are great looking cars in any color!

chuck But cocoa or tobacco would have been KILLER with that exterior color. |
The interior of the mirage car is "space grey" which is a mid grey with a mauve tinge. I had that in a lux 996 built in 99 which was a special edition fitted with LSD, sound package and full leather interior. Didn't stop the RMS and the DMF failing numerous times though!

dave Self adhesive tape won't work well on the rounded nose of the 993! Simon |
Yuck, and um, yuck. But seriously, just not my taste. Hey, I like mine Porsche basic black on black!
|
just out of curiosity, where can I find how many 993 were produced in which color?
|
Too bad the Mirage Metallic has the steering wheel on the wrong side.
|
I like the second one...I wonder why..

me likey very much!!!!!!!!!!! This car would be even yummier with a grey interior! it's nearly the same color as my, (sadly departed) Plum Crazy Barracuda, (BO29 clone car). Craig |
Anyone else think the purple car could in fact be Zenith Blue in poor lighting? I know for a fact that Viola Metallic is a very deep dark rich purple not light like shown. That said, I like both cars.
|
Mmmm ... grape ... glad to see the prices holding up over there :-)
|
I think there's a reason why so few 993's were painted in those colors...
|
I love this....
|
Oh, wow. I absolutely love that Mirage Metalic. It reminds me of "Grigio Ingrid" on Ferraris. Looks stunning on a 993.
|
Diggin' the purple one.

...love the Mirage Metallic...David993S |
Interestingly, Mirage Metallic was a standard offering on the 1999 996. Is this a late build '98?
|
Where do you guys find these ads! Great looking cars, both of them. Love looking at the pics. If I was a member of The Dead music group or maybe a Janis Joplin sound-a-ilke band, I would want that purple car for sure.

Yes and no. Viola metallic is almost black when it's cloudy outside. A very deep, rich purple. This color is called "Violet metallic" by the dealer. I'm not sure it's the right name but it's certainly a one off. I've never seen the color before. Zenith blue has a lot more blue in it than this color. Doesn't even look close IMHO.
does anyone know for sure if this is Violet Blue Metalic or Violet Metalic ? either way, love em both ! |
How are those exhaust tips so flush with the rear bumpers on those cars?
|
Like the purple but not so much the first one. Pretty sure it's not Zenith Blue since I see that color on a fairly regular basis. :)
|
I think the purple one is just violet and not violet metallic (same colour as Barney the TT). The first one is a little boring for me, but I love the violet.
|
I think the purple one is Amaranth (violet) Metallic.

definitely not Zenith Blue. which is a cool color in it's own right.

definitely not Amaranth. which is much deeper violet (see photo below).
as it turns out the car in the op is indeed Violet Blue Metalic (as is the 968 below). . |
Like them both, but the cocoa interior really sells the first one.
|
Love the Mirage Metallic. The purple one puts me in mind of Easter candy. Or maybe Mardi Gras.

I'm sorry but that car is lavender, not violet.
