I'm not sure my skills/ability is up for rebuilding a caliper. although I've never researched what's involved. I hope I'm not there yet! Can this be a sludge thing? Is there any way to free this up?

Can I undo the connecting line at the bottom to trytry to dig out any blockage? I would assume it was working properly prior to my brake job...they went back easy enough when I compressed them to get the pads out.

You may have to close the bleeder nipples and press the pedal hard to get the pistons to move to the pads. Then, to get it to flow out, open the blocked bleeder and once again press the pedal hard.
