RS splitters, rockers, rear spoiler

Sorry for the repeated posts on this topic, but I am still on the fence as to going for the $$factory$$ parts vs. aftermarket.

I called Sunset and was quoted $360X2 for the splitters. It would seem that the Polyurethane aftermarket bits would offer a good savings here, especially for something so low to the ground and subject to abuse. Any real downside?

As for the side rockers, I understand the OE parts are very poorly designed, and thate the new Poly replicas may in fact be improved from a mounting standpoint. They are however smooth and somewhat shiny... but here too I am inclined to save the $$ and perhaps avoid long-term mounting frustration. Thoughts?

I have no idea how to compare the fiberglass rear spoilers though. I am concerned with good fitment and how it looks when it's done since the rear deck is pretty "front and center" visible. Also, Sunset quoted me $3000 (!) for the RS decklid, which I assume is not just the spoiler which is the part that I in fact need. I have no idea what the true price differential is here. And is one significantly better than the other?

Soooo... any suggestions guys? Would love to hear from those that have picked one vs. the other.

Also, does someone have the OE part numbers handy for the whole kit:

ROW font bumper
ROW amber signals
ROW amber/red rear tail lights
RS splitters
RS rockers
RS wing (not the decklid)

Any other parts required for this to be mounted?

Thanks!

Matt

I think the RS wing from carnewal is 2800 euro, so $3000 for just the wing is about right...or actually a pretty good deal.
The Better Bodies wing I just got needed a lot of prep before painting. I paid $500 to have it prepped and painted from a shop where I'm a long-time customer. I told them to let some stuff go, as the gasket will hide the edges, and my car is white (If you can't make it right, paint it white! As the saying goes.) If I wanted it perfect, it would have been another $250 easy...
Still, compared to the factory part, it's a bargain... I'll get some pics up in the next couple of days. Right now, all I have is a crappy cell phone shot.

I talked with Jeff @ Sunset about this very subject today. The full "RS Aerokit" (rear spoiler & grill, side rockers/sills, front splitters and all associated pieces/hardware) was under $3K. This doest not include the ROW bumper and lights.

Tim, thanks for the info.

Strange, cause when I spoke to Jeff he made no mention of a kit price - in fact, we wasn't especially sure if the rear wing was a separate part at all or a whole rear deck assembly, for which he quoted the $3K+.

I'll have to call back and re-ask.

Best,

Matt

Thanks Rick - looking good!

I have a feeling that aftermarket is the way to go, even when accounting for the addtional bodywork that may be required. Especially now that felxible parts are available for the splitters and rockers...

I am glad you have inquired about this too...I was online today (better bodies, carnewal, etc) trying to decide which are the best choices. The better bodies side rockers are shiney and I think would get a new "paint" job on it but are supposed to fit better.
Otherwise I am watching for opinions too:corn:

MA Shaw also carries these parts and they are a RL sponsor. A very good local shop swears by them.

Check out this site: http://www.porschediscountparts.com/...s_Listing.html

P/N 993-505-521-02-G2X & 993-505-522-02-G2X are the RS front L/R corner splitters and very cheap for OEM parts at $189.15 per side - No affiliation but will be placing my order tomorrow :)

They do not list the side skirts though :(

The code G2X refers to the parts being finished in primer ready for colour coat.

Side Skirt Left side P/N: 993-559-126-01
Side Skirt Right side P/N: 993-559-125-01

OEM discount from here: http://www.worldimpex.com/parts/pors...m_2548537.html

Be careful. The 993-505-522-01 is the normal splitter. The RS splitter is 993-505-522-02. This is from the PET Katalog.

Oh man...that peppermint 993 is so cool! Congratulations Brit!

Get the Porsche OE side skirts and splitter. The MA Shaw spoiler is just fine and requires minimal fitting. I have a MA Shaw splitter (spoilers too) and I'm not displeased with it but its a bit on the rigid side and scrapes easily. The OE splitter is made of a far more flexible material and is undoubtedly more durable in this application.
