OT: Who's got the ugliest daily driver?
#47
This is what I drove from high school all the way through college (exactly the same color scheme). It takes a special kind of good luck to have driven these and still be alive. After this, I thought a high powered 930 could do nothing to me....

Although long retired as my daily driver, I wanted to throw this one in the ring. When I bought my 993 back in 2004, my other car was an MR2 Turbo that was set up for autocrossing. Around that same time my dad moved from a house into a condo and no longer had room to store our beloved Cutlass Cierra and asked is he could park it at my house. Since the MR2 was always undergoing some project or sitting on slicks and I didn't want to drive the 993 daily, this car became my daily driver by default.
It was awesome- the windows wouldn't roll down, the weather strip around the driver's door was loose so that you had to jump through a "lasso" in order to get into the car. There was no radio - nothing but the best. After about a year of service, I decided that as a "car guy", spending 80% of my driving time behind the wheel of the Cutlass was a bad idea. I sold the MR2, converted the 993 for track/autocross duty and bought a Benz as a daily driver.
I loved the Cutlass so much I ever drove it to my 10 year high school reunion even though I had a one-month-old (to me) 993 in the garage. Didn't want to be the douchy guy who shows up with something to prove. Below is a pic of me gassing up the old girl on our way to the reunion.

Too bad I didn't keep that one... anyway, I don't think the US DOT would have let me drive it in the US. I had one just like that, except for the color. It was light blue... kinda like the color of the sky...
However, I was always dreaming on driving its big sister built for racing... 1.5L turbocharged mi-engine... a beast!

Brendan,
IMO you win hands down for two reasons. You chose to drive the cutlass to the reunion rather than the Porsche.....first class move. And, even more impressive, when this thread pops up, you can just reach down into that pic file and pull up a sweet Rodan-like "Thinker" pose with the Cutlass. Can't beat that!

Thanks for the props on the Cutlass guys.
My mom bought the car new in 1990 and for a long time it was the nicest one in my family's fleet (I was driving an orange 1978 VW Bus at the time). I think I took my driving test in it. After my mom passed away in 1995, it was handed down to my sister and was kept as a spare car after she left for NYC for college. We really had no need for it, but it wasn't worth anything so we kept it. It was the perfect car to drive to the bar and leave sitting on the street for days after taking a cab home. We sold it to my neighbor for his grandson a few years back and the dumbass kid blew the motor within 24 hours of taking the keys. He told me he was going 160 when the motor popped...yeah right! He forgets that we had the car when I was 16- the speedo only went to 80!

More money for this than for a very nice 993? No way!!! I should get into the business of importing those if this is what they go for over here!!! I just can't believe the asking price. It's more than twice what it is worth...
