NEW 993 C2S CAR OWNER HERE !
1st, a BIG BIG THANK YOU to Dannen (dGetz993) for his patience, humor, and just being an all around cool guy (in the midst of a personal tragedy no less) - he is another new rennlist friend of mine now ! (there was a little "snafu" with the wire transfer that had to be sorted out... the trustees have been fired and then shot, so this wont happen again!)
2nd, a (not as BIG ) THANK YOU to RJT (JoAnne) ! For being my "porsche therapist" in the midst of this purchase. I honestly was not in the market for a C2S (I have been looking for a C4S ! ), and I was not in the market for a black car to be honest... but it was such a good deal... and such a clean car, that I could not pass it up ! (call me strange.... but I cannot purchase a car from a person unless I genuinely like who I am talking to / dealing with....and Dannen...is ....well.... I have heard porsche get together and party stories.....)
As soon as I saw the car ad... I pm'd him, sent him and email via rennlist, sent him an email via his posted address, and called and left a voice message. When he finally got back to me.... he said I was "3rd in line" ... huh????.... I kept calling and calling.... Guy#1 was too busy to come up to see the car. Guy#2.... well... I dont know what happened with Guy#2... so that left me.... "Guy#3"... :
I went to see the car.... talked a bit... looked over the records, and immediately put a deposit. "PPI shmeee..Peee..I" !!! (I know I will be paying for that statement later.... ) ... but I figured, Dannen would be as upfront and honest as he has shown.
Then the wait. 7 days while he was out of town. That was lonnnnnnng.
Picked up the car, and he gave me the following for "free" without me asking :
2 bottles of oil
3 filters (various)
brake bleeder
porsche car cover
oem steering wheel and airbag
original suspension and sways etc
original front indicators (amber) - for sale
paint touch up kit (porsche)
brake fluid
extra bulbs
extra gaskets (various)
extra wheel spacers
and the complete porsche workshop manual (actually....he didnt give that to me.... yet )
Car PICKUP Day (Today):
- Left SF with a friend to Napa (1 hr drive... done in 45 mins)
- picked the car up at 12 noon.
- back to SF downtown (to drop friend off) - 1hr
- Back over to Marin County (30 mins from SF) to go to SMOG the car
- SMOG "warmup" procedure x 35 minutes (no going over 60mph and no going past 3000 rpm) - TRY DOING THIS... it is ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE !!!!....
the only "fun" part... was I had to time getting off the highway at the right place - crossing over a bridge - and getting back onto the highway to get to the SMOG center (within the set period of 40-60mph x 15 minutes).... without going less than 40mph....(essentially a u-turn at 60mph)... which meant... I took the off and on ramp at very FAST speed !!! (screeching tires are "happy tires")
- 30 minutes at SMOG center : get this !....car actually IMPROVED when compared to 11 months prior !
- 1 hour before deadline (and it took 1 hr)...I got new plates...AND ORDERED custom plates for my "new" 993 ! very cool !
blah...blah...blah.... here are the pics (so far) :
i'm in black... appropriately... to match the car

First of all - U R WELCOME. Now where's my check? I don't do the Porsche Therapist thingy for free ya know.
Second - when I read - Picked up the car, and he gave me the following for "free" without me asking :
[B]2 bottles of oil I was full expecting to read:
2 bottles of oil
1 bottle of Vinegar...........
Third - blah blah blah blah blah......
I am so happy that you are happy with the car. Dannen is pretty special and so are you so how could you NOT buy his special car, even if it was black and freaking didn't have a GREEN interior?
Enjoy in good health and stay safe and I am sure I'll be talking to you again soon. We have too many stories to share

Actually I was guy #2 and offered to buy the car at list price upon a PPI. Darren was in a rush and did not want the PPI so I backed off as I was not ready to take such a gamble.
Hopefully the car is without any surprises and you get to enjoy it !!!!
Now I am still looking for a car, please help anybody? !!!!
