Default Sad day. My car is wrecked. See pics

Many of you may have seen recent pics of my pristine 9,000 mile midnight blue turbo after it was detailed by Phil at Detailer's Domain. Unfortunately, I crashed into a tree this weekend and it's totalled. I count my blessings that I was not seriously injured but already I miss the car. I can't imagine finding another one in that condition.

I've learned a lot from everyone on this site. In fact, I bought this car from someone here. Hopefully, I'll be back soon.

A final question I need to ask concerns how my insurance company will value the car. I know I paid more than the "book" value. Can anyone share from experience how I can get the insurance adjuster to understand the true value of a pristine low mileage 993 turbo?

Thanks to all.

Sorry to hear about your loss, but glad to hear you're OK. I don't think you can do much about how the insurance company values your car now. I think you could have had a value assigned to it based on a formal valuation and had it insured to that level...prior to the crash of course.

If you don't get what you want from the insurance company, try to negotiate keeping the car after they total it. My brother did that and made it out quite well. You can part out a lot of the undamaged parts and make some of your money back.

Edit: just saw your pics: WOW, I'm guessing nobody was in the passenger seat.

Bad luck but thank god you are still OK. Had you have been in a silmilar age car that wasn't German you probably wouldn't have survived! :-) I hope you find something soon.

WOW. The fact you were not seriously injured is a blessing. That was a hard hit.

Man, sorry to see this. But at least you're okay. Cars are easy to replace, even rare 993 turbos.

What an absolute shame... That was a stunning car. Lucky you came out of it without serious injury & even luckier that you didn't have a passenger.

Unfortunately there really isn't much you can do about the insurance. They rarely show compassion & will only cover market value (which is obviously down). Note to all - AGREED VALUE POLICIES ARE A MUST! All of my cars are insured this way as I have WAY more into them than they are actually worth on the market.

Good luck with the insurance company, and finding your next 993.

See if your insurance company will offer stated value. I asked, they had my car appraised and are now insuring it for that full amount (for at least 3 years) and it is costing me less than my other policy did....for more than twice the coverage. Having a great agent makes all the difference.

It tends to vary by state, but normally unless you requested/paid for valuation insurance, then they will likely go by book values, regardless of what you paid or if you overpaid.
The insurance companies expect you to insure the car for its value.

That having been said, if you can produce independent valuations, market reports, recent sales, magazine pricing, etc, then you can negotiate with the insurance company.
Unfortunately, in this economy, car prices are down.
