Gemballa body kit on a 993 C2S-opinions
I'm considering this car but found out its necessary cut the rear fenders to accommodate the vents on the side skirt.
To me this sorta kills a large portion of the market, probably reduces desirability/resale value and opens one up to jibes and snickers from the purists.
I'm on the fence as I don't hate or particularly like the bodykit.
I would appreciate some honest thoughts.

Yeah... tuff call, it's not near as bad as I expected to see when I read "Gemballa body kit" but then again a large part of the appeal of a 993 is its sexy body... no need to cut it up. If it does nothing for you then keep looking unless the price is just TOO low and you can live/be happy with it.

Depends. What are the details? Condition, history, mileage, asking price?
I'm not a fan and would pass if priced at a premium or at market but would consider it at a below market if it's an otherwise nice car and you're not set on a stock car.

OK, few more details. its a '98 with just over 10K miles, 3 owners, serviced at a Porsche dealership, has PSS-9's plus a B&B exhaust system, full leather interior, comfy seat option, hifi sound and aftermarket headunit.
Its unfortunate the stock parts don't come with the vehicle.
Carfax shows the steering rack was replaced several years ago.
The brake calipers have me a little concerned as it looks like they've been painted (and not at the factory).
Not sure where the price should be to make this a really good deal and one low enough to overlook its 'uniqueness'.

I hear you
I was in a similar position nearly 2 years ago. I found the car in the right conditions and color I was looking for but with Gemballa upgrades. even if this upgrades came right from the factory this way I wasn't sure if I would like it. Well, I bought the car and I love this car today and not planning to do any changes to it.
I know guys who chaged the side rockers and just welded the hole in the rear fender which turned out to be fine.
But again, I wouldn't change anything on my car. But for me it is also a keeper and I don't have to be worried about resale ;-)

You know I think I could deal with it in a non-metallic color--silver being especially blingy. That Fly Yellow above is pretty nice and I think a white or a black car would come off quite differently.

I used to want them, now I'm glad I never got them. They look a little 80's-early 90's to me now.
The Gemballa tail, on the other hand, looks like a turbo s tail to me with the advantage of the 3rd brake light - yes, I'm biased, as I have one.
The arctic car in question looks good - the little f-car like emblems on the low front quarter panels bothers me more than the side skirts...
And, those are NOT Gemballa Competition wheels!
All that said, if the car passes a competent PPI, the side skirts are not a deal killer to me...

I like it! It's a buy for me. I remember when I had the PPI done on my car the dealer that did the PPI was beside himself telling me that it was not stock and had some aftermarket aero bit's on it, I was like cool I'll take it!
