You have to get the electronics working! Heated office seat for Canadian winters...there's probably a business idea somewhere in there

I love it, I think I am going to make both of my seats into chairs for guests in my office.

It is pretty easy to do. An hour of design and 30mins with a welder

Looks cool - what kind of seats are these because I want to get a set for my car...?

Those are 928 S seats, completely non-elecitrical. You have the electric ones which can raise the front part of the seat, the back and slide forward and backward. The S4 seats have an extra option to raise the back part of the seat. The S4 seats are slightly higher though. And I think the S seats can have heating as well. Another guy on the forum was talking about adding a motorcycle battery orso that was 7A and 12V. Not sure if 7A is enough though, but still, an idea

Default Reviving an old thread

What ideas are there as to what base to use and what is the best value for our buck?

I have these two seats which I would like to make into office chairs but I'm not paying $575 or $2,500 just for the base which I found from this thread and on the link I provided below.

http://www.racechairs.com/category_s/201.htmAny thoughts? Thanks for the help!!

Cheers,
Bryan

Great thread! If only I had an extra set of hardbacks to make an office chair out of. These might work

For the armrest, You can easily adapt a set directly without compromising the seat.

Just installed my 993 standard seats with armrests in our 90 VW Westfalia after some inspiration from this clip:

In my case, welded a rod on the top bolt and used some red locktite on the left side armrest bolt.

Guys, thanks for the responses. The ebay idea would be a good start. After a little fabrication I could get them set up.

Questions I have..

1) Anyone ever add power to their seats so they could use the power functions? What would it take?
2) Is there any kits out there for adaption from office chairs to car seats to make it easier and possibly somewhat inexspensive?

Thanks again for any help you can provide.

Bryan

It needs a 12 volt power supply attached so the seat adjustments work.
