Question Key card

So, after picking up my nice C4S 993 on Friday, I had to go to WI on Monday. Of course, that sucks. Not WI, but the fact that I barely got to enjoy my purchase after months of looking.

I have a quick question regarding the key code or card. I only got one key and already have ordered a new blank with remote. I have the key card, is the number always a 4 digit number? Reason I ask is I have two numbers on my card. One is a 3 digit and the other is a sticker with a UPC type bar code with a 4 digit number. The sticker is over the label of what the 3 digit number is, so I am not sure. I know my Porsche dealer should be able to answer for me, but thought I would ask. I also need this info, I believe, in order to program my new remote.

Thanks,

Mine is 4 digits. Here is the procedure to program the new remote yourself:

You must reprogram your old one at the same time. This is something I need to do too.

Just to further clarify, I believe the key card is for ordering duplicate keys. The sticker with the bar code is the IMMOBILIZER code.

Is the immobilizer code the one that you use for doing the emergency unlock...where you turn on/off appropriately and reprogram the remotes?

A customer-oriented dealer service mgr. can obtain both key & immobilizer codes for your vehicle by supplying VIN, proof of ownership, valid ID and the serial number from the IMMOBILIZER control module located under driver's seat.

The dealer can get the code with only the VIN.

My local dealership looked it up for free for me. The service manager was really nice. He also looked up the recall history, radio code, option list, etc., and printed everything out for me. Make sure they don't charge you!
