Default Help with vacant hole for switch in center console

I'm a new 993 owner in process of chasing down misc. problems with my 96 C4. I have a missing switch, or perhaps dummy switch in my console just in front of the shifter. I have tried searching parts diagrams and posts on Rennlist, but I'm not sure I'm using the right term.

Does anyone know what this is called? Is it a dummy switch or have I lost something important. Where might I find a replacement?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 1995 cab and the switch you are referencing is blank (dummy)on mine as well.

Flux Capacitor relay (via the Strammus rod).

These cars retain lots of interesting features, some from long ago, and others from cross-over build considerations between the various model variations.

I believe that some have converted to a garage door opener switch.

Thanks for the info. I assume I can order a switch blank from Pelikan or other parts house. I will give them a call. I didn't see it on their parts diagram.

Yeah, there's a dummy switch but it's probably not a 993 part. I bought one a couple years ago.

Note that there are two options...there is a dummy switch that looks like the other switches but is non-operational...and there is a blank that sits flush with the console surface. I have one of each so I know I'm not imagining this!

993 coupes with rear wiper option have the rear wiper switch in that position IIRC

That is where my rear wiper switch is located. If grandchildren are in the car and misbehaving I tell them it is the "ejector button" and then open the sunroof. They quit misbehaving quickly!

My dummy switch falls through when I put any degree of pressure on it. Lift up the console that houses that row of switches, it may be in there.

H2NO: Thanks for the suggestion. I looked with a flashlight, but it could be hiding. I will take it apart and see if it fell down.
