I have a G50/21 and the difference feels huge from the /20 after driving back to back with a friend's 993 this past weekend.
IMO, a /30 would be even better but I don't know how the /30 would work for those wishing to still have some highway driveabiity...

I sourced RS ratios for 3, 4, and 5 -- and am leaving 6th as it is, precisely for this reason. I'll have a tight 1-5 and a tall 6th for highway cruising. Just right.

I believe 6th gear on the /21 and /31 is the same.

You know, if the only thing you think is 'wrong' with your 993 is the power, this is a much better alternative than selling your car for more acceleration and then regretting the sale of the 993.
How's that for justification? Think my wife will buy it?

No, she will not buy it. Sorry.... I have the same situation. I love my 993, except for the gearing going from 1st to second. It's just wrong!
You don't have to tell her ;-)

Right on. The first to second shift is what I'd like to address the most. I said acceleration but what I really meant is just being able to stay in the power band easier between shifts. More fun.
I'm saving my pennies....

As of today,
G50/31: $8778/exchange, FOB Germany
G50/32: $9710/exchange, FOB Germany
Both are available but they build them to order and it can take several months for delivery.
IMHO, its one helluva deal for what you get. We do the same things here, but the '96-'98 cars cost more due to the need for the RSR mainshaft with a removeable 2nd gear. Most '95 cars already have that so its not as expensive to re-gear those cars.
Performance-wise, its a night & day difference between the stock tranny and one of these.

Thanks for the update.
The $ difference between the /31 and /32 has narrowed considerably from three years ago. If to do it again, I'd go with the /32. Same gearing, relatively, and better box.

The master has spoken and I can confirm 110%. If you consider to keep the car for a long time and are keen on reliable performance, this mod should be number 2 after the suspension upgrade. (or you buy a car that has this done like I did recently where the previous owner bit the bullet(s))
