Final update (probably): It seems that under California law if a purchaser takes delivery of a motor vehicle in that state then taxes are payable. Result: car is being shipped to Bellingham for Sunday delivery followed by importation to Canada Tuesday morning (can't import on weekends or holidays).

I bought my 993 in California. I really wanted to take delivery and drive it back to NC. Or at least drive it for the weekend then have it shipped to North Carolina. However, because of CA taxes that was not possible. Don't forget, while CA is the richest state in the US, it also has the worst problems paying its bills. Lots of people like to blame Arny but I seem to remember something about IOUs.
Bottom line is, don't pick-up in CA!

I'm sure I speak for Cactus as well as myself when I further specify that the aforementioned bj's can only be delivered by pretty females above the age of consent who are not blood related...well, maybe second cousins twice removed are ok.

I'm glad you cleared that up as I was beginning to worry.
