OBD2 Readiness Code Reset Procedure Question
Hi Guys.
I have a stubborn 993 that doesn't like to reset the codes easily. I searched the threads and found a write up about the recommended driving procedure from both a rennlister and BMWs as well.
It is difficult to produce this driving test in its exact order due to my surroundings. I understand that I need to keep the car below 3rpms pretty much at all times.
Is the sequence the key, or are you allowed to do it in another order.
For example, could I warm it up for the roughly 3 minutes drive it to good place to do the 2-30mph test for a few minutes, then come to a stop prior to getting on the interstate run it for about 20 minutes come to a stop and then hold the clutch in for 6 minuted in gear and be alright?
Will the fact that I drove it gently until I can do the first road test matter much?
I look forward to hearing options, as the last time I had to drive 300 miles to get all the settings taken care of.
Thanks for you help in advance.

FWIW, I've set the readiness codes successfully driving the cycle as one continuous process(along the Mass Pike from a rest stop) as well as driving the individual steps, not necessarily in the prescribed order and I did occassionaly have to stop at traffic lights.

Good luck.

That sounds good. I will give it a try. I had all the systems reset minus the O2 and the check engine light came back on! I will check the code and try again.
Thanks for the help. Any other advice is appreicated.
Thanks again, folks.

There is a protocol that I've obtained from the dealer. I believe that it is the official one from Porsche. I have one of the 6 SAI ports that remained clogged after the flush procedure. It gives me the 1411 code every 1500 miles or so. Once a year before emissions inspection I have to mess with it. I'll see if they will fax me a copy of it tomorrow and post it if I get it.

Thanks.
I have run it twice and it doesn't want to reset the lights. I will try a few more time. I keep it in the speed ranges and under 3k. It seems more like and art and less like an science.\
Thanks.
