Default Car Keyed by Low-Life

Hey guys,

Hope everyone had a good holiday weekend. Mine was going well until someone keyed my car!! No need for explanation as it was innocently parked. Why do people do such things??

Here are the painful pics:

After my good buddy helped me buff out the more minor marks, it is evident that I will still need to get it repainted.

I was hoping you guys can refer me to a top-notch paint/body shop within the Tri-State area, preferably someone who is familiar with Porsches, particuarily 993s. I want the job to be OEM quality job so that it is back to the original beautiful shape. I would like the least amount of repainting as possible to retain the most amount of original paint. Is it possible for them to just repaint the door or would they also need to go into the other panels (1/4 and 3/4 panels) to blend?

I know that Paterek Bros are one of the best in the business, but I read here they are no longer working on "regular" cars and are only working on 356s? Can someone confirm this? If so, any other shops in that same caliber?

Thanks in advance guys.

Arrwin,
That's horrible. May they meet with a fate 993 times worse than death.

Arrwin. I know a guy in Queens who does amazing, top quality work. A lot of Porsches. I'll root around to find his # and send you a PM.

that is so damn weak.

At least the dirtbag was an amateur... he only hit one panel. Then again with a metallic they may want to blend adjacent panels.
Sorry Arrwin.

From my limited knowledge, as the damage is in the middle of the panel, they should be able to blend it without going to the adjacent panels.
Good luck.

Sorry to see that Arrwin....people suck these days. I have used Automobile Associates of Canton in CT for years. In my opinion, they are the best around although a couple of hours from you. I am sure there are many great shops around. Take care, Craig

Good luck.
Assuming that your paint is a base:clear (top coat), that would be my call as well.
One can sand out the scratches and colour match the area to the rest of the door with base coat, blending in the edges. Then, mask the entire door and respray the clear coat. I did this to my stone chips in the hood when repairing an impact area to the front cover.
If the blending is carefully done, the repair is absolutely invisible.

I have seen shops that can airbrush in the keyed areas, do a clear coat on just those areas, and power buff the area .... minimal invasion and great results ....... but you have to find someone with the airbrush skills.
