Headlight Replacement -- easy? Help!
Hey guys and dolls . . . got back from a business trip to find that Blupurr has a headlamp out. Is this an easy fix? Looked in the Essential Companion and did not get enough of a look. I don't know if this is Litronic or not . . . but does that matter? Can someone help me DIY this? I rarely drive at night, but at the moment, when I do, I'm running on highlights. TIA,
Oh . . .PS . . . in the glove compartment I found a couple of spares . . . part number is H I D Series H1 ~ does that help? TIA again,
Bonnie, it's been a while since my 993 but I am pretty sure you simply change the bulb from the back of the lap housing. I recall it was not big deal to do.
Takes about 10 minutes start to finish. If you have an owner's manual, the process is described there. If you don't have a manual, shoot me a PM and I'll take a few photos of mine and send them to you. Also, if you search under "headlight" and specify "Search Titles Only" you will have a plethora of threads that describe issues such as what bulbs to get, etc.

Terry and Bob . . . THANKS! Yes, I do have the owner's manual. Who'd have thunk to look there, lol. I could use those pics anyway, just for help. Send them (Terry) to bonni at weatherwax dot net, please. THANKS again!
Sounds like halogen bulbs, but the same goes for HID bulbs:
Don't touch the bulb with your fingers, as the oil from your hands could lead to early failure.
If they are Litronics, it may not be the bulb, as there are 2 other parts to fail. My igniter failed. You will find a silver box underneath the trunk carpet on the inside of the fender
How hard is it to upgrade the standard headlights to HIDs? I have hunted around and found a bunch of different options, but curious as to the actual work involved as well as cost.
Bonni - be sure and use a large towel or microfiber cloth to protect your fender when you remove the headlight assembly.
Nick - there are a couple of us here just a bit west of you that could help if you decide to DIY. It is one of the best bang-for-the-buck upgrades there is.
