1998 993S2 sold $36K
I am in the hunt and was visiting a number of New Jersey Porsche dealerships for a new 997.2. As I was walking the lot with a sales person, I saw a Black on Black 993S2 on the side....no plates. Looked very nice. Asked about it and was told that it was listed in their inventory for $39,995 and was sold that morning for $36K.
Very nice condition, typical stone chips for a car with 50K miles. Looked inside and saw TIPTRONIC. But the interior was perfect with alum. handbrake, etc. For $36K, I would have been a buyer too.
Sure...Tips go for less but someone got a nice deal on a very nice looking car with a Porsche store that would stand behind any issues.

Was the car at Paul Miller? If so, I was there the day the car arrived as a trade-in. I looked nice except for a bit of minor damage on the front bumper. The idea of an S is nice but I lost interest when I learned it was a tip. It looks like it was a good deal, though..........still looking.

My S is tip and I am probably going to sell it for a new Turbo. I don't know what the big fuzz is all about the tiptronic. I have both types and most of the time I want to be in the tip. My turbo will be tip, not that constant shifting clutch in out stuff. That stuff gets old quick. I was told by a very reputable mechanic here in South Fl, "nothing wrong with a tipy" I agree. That's how Porsche see's the future PDK!

atcbi5, we're not gonna win this debate, brother, but who cares? I get plenty of speeding tickets as it is in my Tip, so the car is living up to its heritage, despite its transmission's effete reputation.

Are you sure that car is sold?
I looked at that car last wednesday and was told it was sold. Yesterday I got an email from one of the Paul Miller salesman that the deal did not go through and was I still interested. I want a manual trans car so I passed. Did you hear today that it was sold?
