Lightbulb 285's on a narrow body

hey listers,
the rears on my97 nb cab went from: 285/30x18 S-03 pole positions to 265/35x18 RE050A pole... fwiw: had to go to the more narrow rear b/c the 285's in the RE050A actually rubbed in the 285 size & i was (best-matching) the lightly worn front bridgestones. note: i was also told @ wheelenhancement -l.a. that the newer bridgestones were mfg. a bit thicker than the earlier one's though same 'size'. odd? yes.

ff to today, almost time for a new set o' rubber so >>

Q : any suggestion for brands in 285's for the rear that would fit no problemo ???
i was thinkin' of simply going w/ a set of pilot sports - rib; 225/40s up front & 285/30's in the rear. just a little leary of buying from tire rack & then finding they rub in back.

some 1st hand experience w/ the michelin's would be greatly appreciated too. also, my car is 'bout 1/2 a finger-width from being 'rs' height in the rear (h&r's w/ bilstein hd's w/ bbs rs-gt wheel); will be getting alignment aft new rubber.

tia for any thoughts &/or comments.

I had Michelin Pilot 285/30 on 18x10 ET65 wheels with no issues. My car is about RS height plus 5mm but the rear fenders are slightly rolled (from previous wheel setup). I have had no rubbing, even with 4 people on board over bumps etc.

I'm waiting on a set of BBS RS-GT with 225/285 pilot sport ribs I got off ebay (good deal too).
I'm lowered to RS + 10 in the rear with -2 camber.

I'll tell you how it goes when they come in.

Rich,

I had 285 Michilins in my NB before with no rubbing. I am now on Fuszon 265s (made by Bridgestone actually) because it costs less.

If anyone wants a set of Michelin Pilot Sports Ribs 265/18's with 7/32 left on the tread depth, make me an offer. I am waiting for a set of 285's to come so I don't want to store the other tires and I cannot bare to throw them away.

I have a narrow body with RE050A 285s on the rear and have no rubbing at all. I have PSS9s and have my car lowered to Euro Sport height. Maybe I'm "right on the edge" of rubbing, but I've never rubbed at all.

Me four. I liked the look of the wide 285s but, as I said in another thread, the car's balance feels SO MUCH better with 225/265 tires that I just put on (PS2).

I have Toyo Proxies (285's on the rear) on MY 02 rims for over two years and no problems. Ride height is just a little lower then ROW. My 2 cents.
