Who needs tires?

I am actually probably telling you this too late, but I called and placed my order yesterday.

Tire Rack has a huge sale on Bridgestone RE01-Rs. They posted a price list on the 911 forum, I think it was. Damon at x643 is a RLer.

Think rear 18s for $99...

gonzilla 02-26-2009 03:45 PM

:(
Only have 16s and 17s. I need something to replace my rear S-02As!

MrRoboto 02-26-2009 03:54 PM

I need some new rears!! I'll check it out, thanks.

Edit: Darn it, the only sizes left are 16's and 17's. gonzilla you're in luck.

nile13 02-26-2009 04:13 PM

Talking about Rack, they seem to have SSRs available in 19" at a pretty rediculous price of $1600 for a set: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand

Oh, how I wish they had them in 17".

Not so much... I meant that they only have 16s & 17s. I need 18s. 265-18-35. Oh well.

timothymoffat 02-26-2009 04:54 PM

What a steal, $366 for a set of 17s (225/45, 255/40). Too bad shipping/duty/brokerage/rapage by Revenue Canada adds $300 to the price before factoring in exchange on our Canadian Peso.
Great tire BTW, I have them on my 95 (225/40-18, 265/35-18) and love em. I wonder why they're being discontinued.

nile13 02-26-2009 04:58 PM

Tim, where did you see 225s and 255s? I only saw 245s in 17". For $366 it is an absolute steal!

I called Damon direct. They had about 15 rears and a few more fronts available that don't show on their site. He said they're just flyin out the door. All 18s are gone BTW.

bart1 02-26-2009 05:01 PM

Call them! I called and talked to Damon and he put me on backorder for 18s. I'll know in a few days if I get them all. I ordered 1set of fronts and 2 rears, as they are discontinuing these.

baron95993 02-26-2009 08:15 PM

Bart,
This is a good buy Just bought tires all the way around but thanks for the info. Hope all is well.
Baron

MrRoboto 02-26-2009 10:16 PM

I got a call back from Damon, no more back orders for 18"...

Stealth 993 02-26-2009 10:22 PM

How much? I didn't even see that size listed.

They are also having a close out on S-02A's & Pilot Sport Ribbed.

I have no idea. Honestly, whatever you think is fair would be fine. I was planning on putting them on Ebay this Spring but I would much rather give a good deal to a fellow Rennlister than jump through the hoops of selling them through there. These tires are much stickier than Pilot Sport Ribs and don't take nearly as much time to come up to temperature. I couldnt offer a comparison to S-02A's though.

gonzilla 02-27-2009 01:12 PM

THANKS DAMON!!!!!

I had emailed Damon yesterday when I read about this to ask if there were any more 265-35-18s and 225-40-18s lying around somewhere. I figured it was worth the shot. Well, I got an email from him this morning telling me to give him a call. Turns out that the guy who was last in line for the rears had canceled his order. He had held onto the cancellation until I could call him back so that I could get them. He also found fronts for me as well. SWEET!!! With a new baby on the way, $530 for a set of 4 tires is okay by me!

Incidentally, he said that I definitely got the last pair of rears out there. Sorry guys. Thanks again Damon!!!

brad@tirerack.com 02-27-2009 02:06 PM

Sorry for the late entry into this forumn guys. I put a post over on wheels/tires a few days ago and have been answering VM's pretty much all day since. Response to this sale has been nothing short of a firestorm the last few days. I've never seen people jump on a sale like this in the 7 years I have been here. 18" is pretty much gone, but people do cancel so don't give up on me, especially today. Call me anyway, even if in doubt. I'll see what I have against outstanding purchase orders.

You may get lucky like Gonzilla.......

onefstm 02-27-2009 07:48 PM

Just picked up a set of 265/35/18's and 235/40/18's from Damon. Give him a call if you need a set. He has had a few more sets show up on the system.

Thanks Damon

bart1 02-27-2009 08:19 PM

I guess that means I will get mine. Woot!

kiesan 02-27-2009 08:47 PM

Just a heads up to my brothers with cars that eat tires like Oreos.

nile13 02-27-2009 10:27 PM

Bart, thanks! I ordered a pair of rear 17"s.

timothymoffat 02-28-2009 04:04 PM

nile13 02-28-2009 05:13 PM

I cancelled my 225/45-17s yesterday, so a pair might be available, Tim.

Nice tail. Usually 225/265 is the size combo.

Ok thanks. Damon said either 225 or 235 would work on the front, and either 265 or 285 on the rear. 285 they were out of, and the 235/265 combo they had at 1 warehouse together so thats what he sent me.

But how can I live with the fact that my M3 dd has wider stock rears (275) than my 993?

I don't know. I tried to get 225/265 and it just didn't work out. LoanWolf, did you order after I started this thread?

Bart,

I found out about the sale in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...hlight=potenza

and jumped on it the same day...the 18s were already pulled from the Tire Rack website and I called Damon who located two more tires in their NJ warehouse. The tires that just shipped yesterday were shipped from Illinois though...

Sorry about not getting yours...have you talked to Damon about locating some more?

nile13 03-11-2009 07:02 PM

I got a call as well telling me that the 255/40-17s I've ordered will not be available and order is cancelled.

I'm not too happy about this. As a matter of fact this is another reason for me to shop at tires.com instead. They've been getting more of my business than TireRack in the past 6-7 years. They simply treat me better. Of the last two orders TireRack sent me a set of race tires that were 2.5 years old (!) and now promised and did not deliver these RE-01s. Does not make me happy.

TireRack, are you listening? Are you feeling me?
